Obituary: THEODORE TED D. MCDONALD, JR. 4, 1934 ~ 9, 2016 Ted was a member of the Bahai Faith and will be remembered as a brilliant, caring, loving man. Theodore Day McDonald Jr., 82, passed away 9, 2016, in Vancouver, WA, following a long journey with primary progressive aphasia. He was born 4, 1934, in Tacoma, WA to Theodore and Elizabeth (Robbins) McDonald. Ted graduated from Olympia High School in Olympia, WA in 1952 and earned a full academic scholarship to Yale University in New Haven, CT, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Ted earned his Master of Science degree in Pulp and Paper Technology from the Institute of Paper Chemistry, Appleton, WI. While there, he met a Lawrence University girl, Coralee Jean Beck, and they were married in 1958 in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Ted and Coralee divorced in 1987. Ted is survived by five children from this marriage, Rebecca Robbins Albright, Todd Geddes McDonald, and Jinai Dow Record (all of Portland, OR), Kelley McDonald Smith (Kelso, WA), and Marra Layli Johnson (Lacey, WA). Ted is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Mary Hanson (Tigard, OR), Ryan Albright (Beaverton, OR), Brittany Smith and Ben Smith (Seattle, WA), Mackensie Johnson, Adam McDonald, Brandon McDonald, and Roxxann Record (Portland, OR) and Chloe Johnson and Dillon Johnson (Lacey, WA); and three great-grandchildren, Ashley Hanson, Jackson Johnson, and Lillian Albright. Teds greatest joy was his family. He was everyones #1 cheerleader and celebrated each and every success and accomplishment. In 1992, Ted married a classmate from high school, Nancy Craig in Olympia, WA. Nancy preceded Ted in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his only brother, Robert McDonald, in 2012. Ted was an engineer, technical manager, and consultant in the Pulp and Paper Industry for Weyerhaeuser Co. (Longview, WA, Plymouth, NC, and Federal Way, WA) EKONO Consulting (Bellevue, WA and Tallahassee, FL) and Champion International Corp, (Hamilton, OH). Ted and Nancy retired to Vancouver in 2000 to be near their families. A private family burial has taken place. Ted will be honored at a Celebration of Life ceremony at 12:30 p.m., 30 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., in Vancouver. A light lunch will follow. A time of fellowship will follow at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the families property on the Toutle River, 511 Toutle River Road, in Castle Rock, WA. Obituary: Teddy T. McDonald, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 6, 2016 surrounded by his family. Teddy was born on 7, 1926 in Godibo, OK to AA & Joycey McDonald. He was in the Army Airforce from 1944 to 1946. He and Jonell (Mack) were married for 69 years. Ted was a member of the Nazarene Church and was a mechanic at Pingrey Motors in Selah for 14 years and an orchardist in Selah and Royal City. His love for his family was only exceeded by his love for his Lord and Saviour. He is survived by his wife Jonell and 3 children, Steve McDonald of Othello, Sandra Stiles and Lori Brooks of Yakima, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter Carrie McDonald. At his request no service will be held. |
