Obituary: Elma Moran Meadors, 90 of Collinsville, Virginia passed away , 18, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Eugene Meadors; her parents J.W. and Minnie Daniel Moran; her sisters: Iris Scarborough, Ruby Joyce and Doris Haley. She is also preceded by her grandparents; Crafford and Molly Moran and John and Jennie Daniel. Elma was a lifelong member of The First Baptist Church of Bassett where she was a member of the Ready Bible class, the WMU and the Joy Group. She was also graduate of Bassett High School. She worked eleven years at Fieldcrest and two and a half years at Bassett Walker. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law; Donald E. (Cheryl) Meadors of Bassett and Tom W. (Connie) Meadors of Clemmons, NC.. Four grandchildren; Stephen Meadors, Jennifer Boyd, Brooke Meadors and Joshua Meadors . Three great grandchildren; Gage Meadors, Jenna Meadors and Abby Boyd. The family will receive friends , 21st from 12 noon -1pm at The First Baptist Church of Basset, Va with funeral services beginning at 1pm With Pastor Lew Bennett officiating. . Interment will follow at Mount Herman in Bassett. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Baptist Church of Bassett P.O. Box 557 Bassett, Virginia 24055. |

Obituary: Sue Anne Newton Meador, age 80, of Bassett, died, , 18, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical . She was born 17, 1934 in Hickory, NC to Evan Lester Newton and Avis Propst Newton, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Henry Bennett Meador, Jr. Mrs. Meador was a homemaker and mother. She made sure the needs of her children and husband were met every day. Sue had been a preschool teacher for over 30 years. She taught at 2nd Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, ran a preschool program in her home in Bassett, and taught at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan, always supporting her childrens and grandchildrens sports teams. She also loved the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Braves, and the North Carolina Tarheels. She is survived by her daughters: Sue M. Haley and her husband, Jim of Harrisonburg, VA and Liza M. White and her husband, Graham of Oak Ridge, NC; her sons: Bennett Sandy Meador and Tina Davis, of Farmville,VA and Robert Bobby Meador and his wife, Julie of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren: Rachel H. Brown and her husband, Aaron of Dayton, VA, David B. Haley and Briana Haymore of Harrisonburg, VA, Zachary E. White of Falls Church, VA and Bennett G. White of Oak Ridge, NC; a great-grandson: Samuel Evan Brown of Dayton, VA; a sister: Nancy McGalliard and her husband, Tom of Knoxville, TN; a niece: Anna M. Zovodny and her husband, John of Belfast, Maine; a nephew: Tad McGalliard and his wife Sharon of Severna Park, MD; and a grand-nephew: Thomas McGalliard of Severna Park, MD. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on , 23, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on , 23, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville with Rev. John Wiederholt and Rev. Dwight Christenberry officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Network, P.O.
