Obituary: Cindy Ann Duffer Matern Cindy, 57 years young, passed away 27, 2015, at her home in Ladysmith, Virginia. She was born in Sandston, Virginia and graduated from Midlothian High School in 1975. She moved to the Stafford area in 1981 where she began her career as the Aquatics Director with the of Stafford Parks and Recreation. Through her 12 year career as the Aquatics Director she will be fondly remembered for teaching swimming lessons to the areas youth, with whom she regularly crossed paths for years. Cindys strong work ethic and passion for teaching our areas youth set the tone for future parks and recreation developments. In 1993, Cindy joined her mother and business leader, Ann Duffer, to open Stat Employment staffing agency in Fredericksburg. She soon realized her lifes calling of helping the community in which she lives and works by assisting local businesses with affordable, quality staffing solutions and providing area residents the opportunity to work for our communitys leading employers. In 2006, Cindy furthered her professional ambitions by opening her own staffing firm, At Once Staffing, Inc., where she continued to provide a superior customer service experience to local businesses and supportive environment for area workers to be gainfully employed in our community. Whether volunteering her time or providing financial assistance, Cindy continuously responded to the needs in the greater Fredericksburg area. She regularly sponsored events and donated to local organizations such as Goodwill Industries, Habitat for Humanity, Fredericksburg SPCA, Caroline SPCA, and various local schools and area residents who have experienced hard times. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Caroline Chamber of Commerce and Fredericksburg SPCA. Cindy was a member of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and a former member of many Stafford area civic organizations. When Cindy wasn building her career, she spent the rest of her time doing what she loved spending time with her friends and family. An avid boater and fisherman, you could regularly see Cindy on the water or making new memories with her most recent pastime her granddaughters. Cindys funloving, generous spirit is infectious and exciting and she will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her children, Kris Montgomery (Bill), Ginni Mastin (Blair), Brandon Matern (Rachael); significant other, Bud Keen; her brother, Mike Duffer, and sister, Jeanne Shephard (Steven); her stepmother, Patricia Duffer; her nephew, McKinley Duffer, and niece, Rosalie Duffer; her dogs, Kramer and Deebo; and her four grandchildren, Ashley, Emma, Claire and Ava. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on , 2 at Storke , 111 South Main St, Bowling Green. The memorial service for Cindy will be held at 2pm on , 3 at Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church, 8063 Ladysmith Rd, Ruther Glen.
