Obituary: Norma Rasmussen Muir 1921 ~ 2010 Together Again Our sweet Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Norma Rasmussen Muir, 89, left this mortal life peacefully morning 18, 2010. She returned home to her Heavenly Father of causes incident to age. She was born on 1st, 1921, the second of four children born to John Clayton and Merlin (Merle) Skougaard Rasmussen in Milford, Utah. Norma grew up in Parowan, Utah, and graduated from Parowan High School in 1939. Raised during the Great Depression, she learned much about being careful with what she was given and yet sharing with others when she saw a need. She married George Chester Muir (Chester G. Muir) 24th, 1939, at Beaver, Utah. Norma was left a widow when he died 17th, 1991. were sealed in the Mt Timpanogos Temple 17th, 1998. Norma and Chet had two sons and one daughter, Douglas C (Lorraine), Roger G, and Linda. She is also survived by a very special daughter-in-law, Gayla. During her married life, Norma and Chet lived in a number of different places in Utah, Nevada, and California. World War II they spent the rest of their lives living in Orem, and Provo. Mom always loved gardens, flowers and beautiful yards. She inherited her father’s “green thumb†and could make about anything grow. Her love for beautiful flowers and gardens was one of her most endearing traits. She also had a great talent in sewing and other needlecraft. Norma served in the church much of her life. Most of her callings were with the Young Women and Primary. She also served in the Cub Scouts and the Relief Society. She loved family history and her collections have greatly blessed her family with knowledge of our ancestors. Norma is survived by her sons and daughter as well as one grandson, 3 granddaughters and 14 (soon to be fifteen) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her parents, her two brothers and her two sisters. The family would like to thank Darcy and the staff at the Bel Aire for their help the last several months of her life. We also thank First Choice Hospice for their great help and support.
