Obituary: Robert Andrew McLendon passed away while on vacation in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico on 8, 2014. He was able to see the ocean, which he dearly loved, one more time before he was called home for eternity. Bob was born 12, 1949 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Eunice Arnout Beliveau and Robert Beliveau. At the age of 13, he was adopted by his step father E. Kelly McLendon. He was a graduate of Leigh High School, San Jose, California and a veteran of the US Coast Guard. Much of his working career was spent as a salesman of industrial equipment traveling to numerous states calling on his accounts. He spent his final work years as a Maintenance Systems Coordinator for the Salt Lake City Airport until his medical retirement in 2011. Bob had a daughter, Kristina Lyn McLendon from his first marriage. On 28, 1982, Bob married Candace Ann King and became a Dad to Elaine Gagnon Almond. attempting to live life on his own and in his own way, Bob, the former surfer dude, accepted Christ into his life and was baptized in water 7, 1997. He truly loved the Lord and went forth discipling to family, friends and strangers although no one ever stayed a stranger to Bob. He loved talking to people and will always be remembered for his smile. Bob loved vacations at the beach with his wife and making new friends, especially sushi buddies. He treasured his family and was an inspiration to us all because of his courage during his afflictions and his love for God. Now Bob is in a far better place that is immensely more beautiful than his beloved ocean and mountains. He is free of pain, medications, hospitalizations and medical equipment. He is singing and dancing in the presence of the Lord. Bob leaves behind his wife, Candace, daughters, Kristina (David) Hoil, and Elaine (David) Almond. He also leaves his mother, Eunice McLendon, sister Janine (Bob) Gustafson, brother Kelly (Deanne) McLendon, sister Michelle (Pat) Nicholes and sister Karen (Mitch) Gilmore plus 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City for the attentive care they gave Bob in the last several years. Bob loved each of you, appreciated your special care and kept you in his prayers. Obituary: Sylvia Lee Workman McLemore was born on 1, 1932 in Ashland, KY to Gladys Opal Buchanan Workman and Floyd Wootson Workman. She completed her Earthly mission and was called back to her Heavenly Fathers care on 27, 2012 in Orem, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 18 years, James Lloyd McLemore, Jr. She lived with her parents in Logan, WV and enjoyed spending summers with her grandparents in Gilbert, WV. When she was 9 years old, her family moved to Tarboro, NC. Her love for learning began when she was very young. Her father used to read to her every night from the encyclopedia. She enjoyed school, where she excelled in Math and English – particularly in Math. She always had a steadfast love for music. She played the piano very well. She also played the saxophone and the B flat clarinet in the Tarboro High School Band. She organized a dance band which played for high school dances and for the local country club. Her parents built a dry cleaning plant, where she worked after school doing alterations and repairs. She became a talented seamstress, a skill that proved valuable later as she made beautiful clothing for her children. Prior to marriage, she attended Peace in Raleigh, NC and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. While in college, her Math professor took theorems that Sylvia had devised to a Math seminar. Professors from several universities stayed up all night in efforts to disprove them and could not. Only one formula would be needed for a doctorate. She had 3. On 15, 1953, she married James Lloyd McLemore, Jr. became the parents of the first three of their six children in Tarboro and Rocky Mount, North Carolina. In of 1958 they moved to Washington, DC and then to Wheaton, MD where three more children were born to them in Olney, MD. In of 1969, they separated. Divorce followed in of 1971. Sylvia was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on 16, 1971. She lived in the Tarboro Branch, fondly referred to as the Tarboro Twig. Her familys addition raised the attendance from 42 to 48 active members. Immediately after her baptism, she felt blessed to have been called to teach the Gospel Doctrine Class, Cultural Refinement in Relief Society, Young Womens, Primary, and was a Visiting Teacher to 12 sisters. She had a deep and abiding love for the Savior and enjoyed serving in whatever she was called to do. Sylvia and her children moved from North Carolina to Mesa, Arizona in of 1975, where she began work as a supervisor in the clothing department at the Mesa Arizona Temple. In of 1983, she moved to Hollywood, FL to be with her daughters, Sylvia and Dixie. She moved to Provo, UT with her daughter, Dixie, and her grandson, Steven, in of 1986. She lived in Provo until 2004, when she moved to Orem to share a home with Sylvia. She lived there spending many happy times with family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren until she passed away on 27, 2012. She has six children, Sylvia Anne McLemore Overson (Ralph), Wanda Sue McLemore, James Lloyd McLemore, Jr. (Leah), John Floyd McLemore (Mary), Joseph Kenneth McLemore (Ann), Dixie Lee Huffaker and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who sorely miss her. The two things most dear and precious to her heart were her Heavenly Father and her family. Services celebrating Sylvias life will be held on , 7, 2012 at noon at the Lakeridge 8th Ward, 80 West 900 South in Orem, UT. There will be a viewing from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. just prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Orem City . |
