Obituary: Francis R (Frank) Magleby 22, 1928 – 17, 2013 Francis R (Frank) Magleby passed away peacefully 17, 2013 surrounded by loved ones on both sides of the veil. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he richly blessed the lives of all who knew him. Frank was born on 22, 1928 in Idaho Falls Idaho. He was the second son and third of four children of Zella Fausett and Rulon Talmage Magleby. His family moved to Portland Oregon when he was six years old where he spent his teen age years and attended high school. Following high school he attended Brigham Young University on a football scholarship, earning a bachelors and Masters degree in art. From 1952-54 he served in the military as an army photographer stationed in Italy. Following his military service he attended the Art Students League in New York City and completed his education with a doctorate degree from the teachers college at Columbia University. While in New York he met his true love, Mildred Elizabeth Boise. were married May 9, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. In 1959 he joined the faculty at Brigham Young University where he taught for 35 years as a professor of art and had the opportunity to influence the lives of many students. Frank was a prolific painter throughout his career and he continued to paint up until the final weeks of his life. He has left behind a legacy of beautiful paintings that adorn the walls of many homes, offices, churches and LDS temples across the world. Perhaps the highlight for Frank as an artist was the opportunity to serve a mission as a painter for the church and to later lead a group of artists in creating the murals for the LDS temple in Nauvoo IL. Frank and his wife Middie raised their five children in Provo. were his greatest source of pride and joy. He was described as someone that knew the value of time, people and beauty. He was never in a rush, ever! He just focused on helping people understand their importance and that they are loved. He was a great teacher and mentor to so many and through his example showed us how to live with quiet honor. He is survived by his wife Middie, his five children Heather Behrmann, Eric Magleby, Holly Foutz, Hillary Morrow and Hans Magleby, his 24 grandchildren and 10 great grand children. services will be held the 21 of 2013 at the Pleasant View LDS Chapel, 2445 N. 650 E., Provo, UT 84604. Obituary: In the early morning hour of May 19, 2006, Nicholas Harding Magleby, our sweet little boy, returned to Heavenly Father to be reunited with his older sister, Paige. Nicholas was born on May 17, 2000 to Greg and Tina Magleby. He has been an absolute joy to his family and friends and will be greatly missed. His mission on earth has been completed valiantly. Without words, Nicholas taught us the most important lessons of life through his incredibly strong spirit. We will forever remember his infectious smile, giggles, gut-laughs and the fast wheelchair rides in store isles. He touched our hearts and spoke directly to our spirits. The support of our family and friends has helped carry us through. Nicholas loved spending time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He felt and appreciated their love for him. Nicholas had two unselfish care givers in his sisters McCall and PeiPei. Nicholas shared a special bond with his older sister McCall and they were each others heros. Nicholas had the wonderful opportunity to attend 3 years of pre-school, the latest with his sister, PeiPei. Each day we looked forward to PeiPeis colorful stories and especially to Nicholas daily note which told of his adventures of the morning. Our love and appreciation goes out the all the wonderful teachers, aides, therapists, bus drivers and especially Miss Ilene that made his experience such a precious time for us and Nicholas. We are also eternally grateful for the care and love that has always been shown by Dr. Richard Later and his staff and the many friends we have made at the hospital and through hospice. have supported, comforted, helped and advised us through the tough times with both Nicholas and Paige. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Greg and Tina Magleby and his sisters, McCall and PeiPei of Spanish Fork; Grandparents Toby and Lynn Harding of Woodland Hills; Grandparents Dan and Pat Magleby of Washington, Utah; Great-Grandmother Joyce Johnson of Murray, Utah and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Nicholas was preceded in death by his older sister, Paige. A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, on , May 21, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. An outdoor service will be held at the Angel Monument at the Spanish Fork on , May 22, 2006 at 10 am. We invite all to attend. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork , Spanish Fork, Utah. Nicholas, we love you and await the day that we will be reunited and have the sacred opportunity to raise you once again. Until then, be free, play and soar. |
