Obituary: Maurine Madsen May 7, 1929- 6, 2006 May 7th, 1929, the earth was blessed with the miracle of Maurine Williams Madsen, born of Willard P. and Maria Christina Williams. She was the youngest of 7 children residing in Orem, Utah. From a very early age she had a love of music and after much pleading, was given her first piano, which she spent hours playing. She loved playing for her father and relished in his approval. This was only the beginning of a life full of blessing family, friends and community with her heaven sent gift. Maurine went to Lincoln High School where she met her sweetheart, L. Kay Madsen. enjoyed a courtship filled with sports, music, laughter and love. Their friendships with school friends have lasted throughout the years and remain an important part of their life today. high school Kay went to Cedar City on a sports scholarship, which lasted one term (homesick for his sweetheart). Upon his return he proposed, and they were married 7th, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. The happiness they enjoyed in courtship remained a vital part of their marriage that lasted on this earth for 58 years and for all eternity. Their love for each other and faith in their Heavenly Father has carried them through the many happy and challenging times they have been blessed to share. began their family in 1950 when Christine was born. Janice came 2 years later, and shortly after they moved to Idaho Falls. There she assisted Kay in starting a new business and furthered her musical abilities by directing the Sweet Adelines Chorus. In 1960 they moved to Great Falls, Montana where they stayed for 11 years. During their time there Karolyn (Kari) and Timothy were born. This was a wonderful time for Kay and Maurine. Music again filled their lives as she was a member of the Del Rose Trio traveling with the Montana Centennial train to the new York Worlds Fair where she sang for President Lyndon Johnson. She also organized and directed the Great Falls Mormon Choir, as well as the production of Promised Valley which touched many lives with inspiration and joy. In 1971 they moved back to Utah, and what a blessing this turned out to be. In of 1974 there was another large bundle of joy . . . Rick, Pam, Laura, Dirk, Valerie and Matthew completed this wonderful family. Chauntenettes Womens Chorus and the life-long friendships she made in her 22 years affiliation as the director and artistic arranger for those priceless women, was one of the things she cherished most through her entire life. Those memories will remain with her and the ladies she loved, including the accompanists, presidents and librarians forever. She had such an amazing way of inspiring the best in everyone she worked with, musically and otherwise, someone once said, she could get music out of trees. Her legacy of husband, kids, grandkids, music, friendships, family, faith, gardening, flowers, breakfast in the canyon, long drives, movies, milk duds, ice cream cones and mountains of love and service to everyone will remain with all of us always. She is survived by her sweetheart and eternal companion. L. Kay madsen, beloved sons and daughters and their spouses, 37 grandchildren and their spouses, and 18 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lois Park and Norma Hiatt, a brother, Bud Williams, as well as sisters-in-law, Beth Zohner and Kathy Chai.------- services will be held , 9, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Windsor 4th Ward Chapel, 1875 North 280 West, Orem. Family and friends may call evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Kathleen was born on 31, 1955, in Provo, Utah, to Bernard and Shirley Todd. Kathleen grew up in Orem, Utah, and graduated from Orem High School in 1973. She had a distinguished and enjoyable career with the Precision Assembly and Harman Music Group where she worked as a Surface Mount Technician from 1979-2006. Kathleen cherished many long lasting friendships throughout her career. Kathleen was a faithful and devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family and crocheting.
