Obituary: William Bill Joseph Myers, 88, of Lubbock passed away on , 6, 2016. Mr. Myers was born on May 19, 1928 in Canyon, TX to the late William Calvin Eunice (Bozarth) Myers. He married Dorothy Myers on 29, 1952 in San Diego, CA. Mr. Myers was a very proud member of the United States Navy from 1949-1952 where he served during the Korean War. He had taken the test to enroll in West Point, but while waiting for the results he decided to enlist in the Navy, and was deployed. It wasn until he was at sea that he learned he had been accepted to West Point. Mr. Myers was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church, a very talented wood carver, fisherman, and plumber. He taught apprentice plumbers most of his life. Most of all Mr. Myers was a very loving family man. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother and one sister. Those left to cherish Bills memory are his loving wife; Dorothy, son; Wes Myers, and daughter; Denise McCarty. Mr. Myers was also blessed with four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Obituary: William (Bill) Lee Myers, 75 of San Angelo, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on , 23, 2014. Family visitation will be , 25, 2014 at Johnsons from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Williams life will be 10:00 a.m. , 26, 2014 at Johnsons Chapel with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. William was born on 11, 1938 in Abilene, Texas to Elmo and Gwendola Myers. He was a preacher of the Gospel and former Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Cisco and the Bible Baptist Church in Menard. He graduated from Arlington Baptist in 1976 and married Brenda J. Daves on 14, 1981 at the Baptist Tabernacle in San Angelo. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and served for three years. He was called back to duty during the Berlin Crisis and served another year in Korea, guarding the Demilitarized Zone. William was an entrepreneur. He ran Myers Mowing Service from 1980 to 1993. In 1994, he started Myers and Associates Insurance. He was an avid sports fan, but he really loved baseball. He loved the Atlanta Braves, and he was even scouted by the Milwaukee Braves in 1954. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents; middle brother Elmo E. (Buster) Myers; sister in-law Mildred Myers; brother Owen A. Myers; sister Nelda Avant; and grandson Matthew Schkade. Survivors include his beloved wife Brenda; sons: Matthew Lee, Mark Stephen and wife Andrea, and Michael Luke and wife Christina Dawn; daughter Lisa Denise Pomar and husband Renè; sister Theola Hardin and husband RJ; brother Wilford (Sonny) Myers and wife Nell; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Obituary: William L (Bill) Myers, Jr., age 81, passed away in Houston Texas on 14, 200l. He was born 4, 1929 to William L. Myers, Sr. and Sally Lois Myers. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise Page of New Braunfels, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 57+ years, Rosaleen Slavens Myers, two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Connie of Houston, TX and Bret and Debra of McKinney, TX, a granddaughter Cassie Ann Myers, a grandson, Blake William Myers, and a great-grandson, Jacob Alan Young, all of Houston, TX. Additionally Bill leaves behind a brother, Dewayne Myers, and a sister, Inez Gregory, both of Bartlesville, Ok., and a brother Don Myers of Conroe, TX as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill spent his early years in Bartlesville, OK where he completed his education in 1948. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Houston, Class of 1958. Early in his career he worked for Phillips Petroleum . In 1988, after thirty-two years service, he retired from Baker Hughes Tool . Bill served his country as was a Corporal in The U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX and Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He was a member of the 4th Army, 509th Military Police unit. Obituary: Warren E. Myers, Major General, USA Retired, went to be with his Lord on , 11, 2009. He was born in Chandler, Oklahoma on 18, 1920, the son of Earl W. Myers and Dora Biswell Myers. General Myers attended Stone Grade School and graduated from Chandler High School and Oklahoma A & M University with a degree in Economics. On May 15, 1942, he received an ROTC Commission and went directly into the service. Prior to going overseas, Lt. Myers and Doris Dosie Bissett were married on 25, 1942. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theatre as a Ranger from New Guinea to the Philippines to South Korea as a Platoon Leader and Commander with the 63rd Infantry of the 6th Infantry Division. He attended numerous military schools and was awarded many decorations including the Combat Infantry Badge, the Distinguished Service Medal and a Purple Heart. Post-war, his service included the US Army Reserve with the 90th Infantry Division, as well as retiring as the Commanding General of the 90th ARCOM after almost 20 years as a Flag Officer. In civilian life Warren Myers was a Real Estate Broker and served on various boards, including Bank Director of Ingram Park National Bank of Commerce, Trustee of the Baptist Memorial Hospital System, Plaza Club Board as its Chairman and as a board member of the Army Residence Community. He and Mrs. Myers were charter members of Trinity Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. General Myers loved the Lord, his country, family and friends. He was always ready to serve and to give of himself and will be sorely missed. General Myers was preceded in death by his parents, his 2 sisters, Esther Slater of Clinton, Oklahoma and Wanda Mauch of Ada, Oklahoma; and his brothers, Vernon Myers of Oklahoma City and Perry Myers of Dayton, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dosie; sister-in-law, Carlyn Myers of Dayton; five nephews and their families, brother-in-law, L. A. Pittman and nephew, John Pittman of San Antonio; niece, Ami Brown and her husband, Mike of Houston and J. D. and Christian Brown and Zachary Pittman. |
