Obituary: A PORTRAIT OF DEVOTION She was born Mary Frances Weisinger on 7, 1931 in Conroe, Texas and unbeknownst to her at the time, to a life of love and devotion. At a very early age her mothers medical issues created a situation where she was now more mother than daughter. She remained devoted to her mother doing all the things that could no longer be reasonably done by her until her mothers death in 2000. She attended John H. Reagan High School in Houston, Texas and as a close friend remarked, I believe she participated in everything but football! high school, she continued her academics at Southwestern University where she was to meet the love of her life John Ellis Myers. John was a stellar football player for Southwestern, and so as if written for a love story, Mary was selected as the coming Queen in 1950, and as it turns out, she was the last homecoming queen for the university because the school terminated football the following year. Mary married John Ellis Myers on 24, 1951 and that date began a full, rich life of love to John that never wavered for 63 years. Her love and devotion to him was to say the least one of legends and through this love she was blessed with three children, Randall Paul, Sharon Lee, and Rhonda Kay Myers. Randy died unexpectedly at the age of 39, and a part of her heart died with him. Sherry married (husband Jim Blanco) and gave Mary a new outlet for that amazing love and devotion, twins Meredith Herndon (husband Dave) and Lea Stanley (husband Josh), Laura Simmons, and Scott Eric Blanco. Rhonda (husband Chris Pate) also provided Mary with more to love with her children Jonathan, Mary, and Randy Chapman, and Austin Pate. The love and devotion she poured forth to these grandchildren not to mention her own children, is a source of warmth and pride they all carry in their hearts, a love that they will never forget nor could diminish despite her absence in their life. In the midst of all she gave not only to her family, but also to her friends, she had other interests, passions, and devotions that reached beyond the family. Mary was always dedicated to her faith, and she gave selflessly to her church, no matter where she lived. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing and being a part of the choir. She worked as a church secretary and youth group leader at one point, and was always part of a group of dedicated volunteers at her church for which she has been a member for forty years, Faith United Methodist. Her passion for volunteering was continued as she assisted on s for Sanctuary, an Alzheimers group that allowed caregivers a little respite. Mary was truly, to say the least, a voracious reader; she devoured books, soared away in their intricate mystery or love story. She worked at one time as a librarian, and passed this love of reading onto her children. Reading and learning for a lifetime was her message that all her children and grandchildren took to heart. Mary Frances Weisinger Myers crossed the veil between this life and the true life on 22, 2014 and was welcomed and joyfully greeted by her Mother and Father, Frances and Irvin, and her beloved son Randy. Her love will be missed, her devotion will leave a void that can never be filled, and her smile and always warm greeting and hugs will be difficult to forget. The world will never be the same, John Myers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., , 28, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks . A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M, , 29, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church, 2701 S. Lamar Blvd. with Rev. Katy Fitzhugh officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park. Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be James Blanco, Chris Pate, Jonathan Chapman, Randall Chapman, Scott Blanco, David Herndon, and Josh Standley. Obituary: Marvin Edward Myers passed away on 6 at the age of 79. He was born on May 31, 1935 in New York to Lillian and Bennett Myers. Marvin fought Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for 18 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma, his son Andrew, his daughter Lisa Groesbeck and her husband, Rob, grand-daughter Stacie, sister-in-law Anita Morgan, niece Melissa Hereford and family, and special cousins Woody and Karen Levinson. Obituary: Marvin Virgil Myers, 91, passed away on , 18, 2010 at his home in Houston, Texas. He was born on 2, 1919 in Orange, Texas to his parents Henry Carl and Oscar Olivia Myers. Marvin was raised in Orange, Texas. serving in the Army, he eventually moved to Houston, Texas where he lived for more than 60 years. He was married to the late, Billy Jean Chisum and had three sons; Robert, David and Mark. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and raised bird dogs in his spare time. Most importantly, he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife. He is survived by his sons; Robert Myers, David Myers and his wife Vicki, and Mark Myers, all of Houston, TX; two granddaughters; Robin Myers and husband Ben of Boston, MA, and Jamie Myers of Houston, TX; a grandson, Clay Myers of Houston, TX, and two sisters; Pearl Myers Burgess of Orange, TX and Berryl Conway and husband Jay of Houston, TX.
