Obituary: John Edward Myers, 65, of Paris, passed away , 13, 2016, at his home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. , 17th, at Bright-Holland with Duane Hamil officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen . The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born 21, 1950, in Clarksville. His career as Plant Superintendent for Wall Concrete Pipe spanned nineteen years before his retirement. John helped construct the hat on top of the Eiffel Tower, and his name is listed on the plaque at the tower. An avid CB operator and CB Radio Technician, he was known by many as “Phantom 409”. He was preceded in death by his father, J. D. “Slim” Myers, his mother, Fannie Marie Miller, and a brother, Don Miller. Survivors include his wife, Susan Kimble Myers, whom he married on 25, 1970, building forty-five years of family and memories, two sons, John Alan Myers & wife Sadie of Paris and Michael Aaron Myers & wife Amanda of Tigertown, grandchildren, Dustin Ray Myers & wife Shelbi, Whitney Myers, Jonathon Myers, Steven Harrelson and Jacob Myers, great grandchildren, Kolby Myers, Addison Myers, and Liam Newsom, siblings, Sammy Myers & wife Sherrie, Mary Smith & husband Leon, Josie Smith & Jack, Jacquita Smith & husband Dale and Velma Smith & husband Don along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: John Alan Myers, Michael Aaron Myers, Dustin Ray Myers, Jonathon Myers, Steven Harrelson, Jacob Myers & Jack Baker. |

Obituary: A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives. Jackie Robinson This is the legacy that John Myers leaves behind. His dedication to his wife, to his family, and to all the young men whose lives he touched while coaching football are the trophies he collected. You cannot put them on display on a shelf, but they could be see in the boys who became men and remembered the values he instilled. Dedication, devotion, selflessness, courage were not mere words, they were concepts that he taught and instilled in those who had the privilege to be under his tutelage. He was a man of honor, and he exemplified that throughout his tenure as a coach and teacher. He lived the values he taught, a true man will do so, because they were not mere words to use in a lesson, they were values John Myers held in high regard. He was a loving and dedicated husband to the woman he referred to as he love of his life (Mary Myers), and he was a dedicated and loving father to his children, Randy Myers (deceased), Sherry Blanco (husband Jim) and Rhonda Pate (husband Chris). He was a loved and admired Grandfather, Papaw to Sherrys children: Lea (husband Josh), Meredith (husband Dave), Laura, and Scott as well as to Rhondas children: Jonathan, Mary, Randy, and Austin. If John Myers was your friend, you truly had a friend! He was quick with a smile, a warm greeting, and often times a story. His passion was football, that is why he dedicated himself to the profession of coaching, and right behind it was golf. John took golf very seriously, but he never took himself seriously when playing the game. He took golf for what it was, a game to enjoy and at least try to master, that was the fun in it. John also has a claim to fame! In his early adult life he was considered one of the best fast pitch softball pitchers in the state of Texas. Along with this notoriety, he was also inducted into the Softball Legends Hall of Fame in 2003. John Myers will be missed, by many, but our loss was the gain for his wife, his brothers Jack, Bill, and Bob as well as his mother and father, all who set forth a joyous welcome as they greeted him on 22nd. John had a favorite response anytime he was asked how he was doing, and I imagine when God asked him how he was doing, he simply said, You know God, Im doing Fair To Midland! |

Obituary: MYERS, JOHN THOMAS passed away on 23, 2013 at 92 years of age. He was very proud of his family, especially his wife of 70 years, Jody. Jack was born in Tulsa, OK on 16, 1920 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1942. He was a long time resident of Dallas, TX and a charter member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church. His career at Equitable Life Assurance of New York included supervising residential mortgages and directing large commercial projects nationwide. He is survived by his wife, Jody Myers; daughters, Linda Purcell (Ross Leonard) and Patricia Myers (William Knighton); grandson, Ken Purcell (Kristi Purcell); two great grandsons, Jack Myers Purcell and Joseph Giley Purcell. Jack was an avid traveler, pilot and sailor. To him, life was always an adventure as he and Jody traveled the world. Jack was a success in all his roles in life: loving husband, caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather, trusted advisor to many, and dedicated friend. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Graveside service will be private. Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association or St. Judes Childrens Hospital. |

Obituary: Jo Ella Elder Myers, 101, passed away , 5, 2015. She was born 19, 1914 in Pilot Point, Texas, to James Dee and Bertha Mae Elder. While she was attending North Texas University, she met and married Robert Gilbert Myers. She worked as a cashier/secretary for the Community Natural Gas in Pilot Point, substituted in Joinerville Consolidated School District, was secretary/receptionist for Texas Life Insurance in Tyler and Austin, TX, was secretary to the Dean of Education at McNeese State University, was secretary to Rep. Jack Hawkins in the 62nd State Legislature, and then secretary to Rep. Forrest Green during the 63rd Session before retiring in 1976. Jo Ella was a member of Crestview and Bethany United Methodist Churches in Austin. She was an active member of Crestview Fellowship. She and her husband were avid square dancers for 25 years with the Promenaders in Austin. She also enjoyed playing the piano at church and for funerals. Jo Ella is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Brown; four grandchildren, Barbara Belden and husband David, Kathy Bailey and husband Keith, Michelle Henley and husband Allen, Robert D. Parker and wife Brittany; also seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert, her daughter Floela Parker Maxwell, her parents and three brothers. A special thanks to the staff at Sagebrook in Cedar Park for their love and care. Memorials may be made to either of her churches. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on 9, 2015 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Hill Park in Pflugerville , 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Minnich, presiding.
