Born in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in New Jersey and moved his family to Texas in the early 1950s. It was then that he joined WOAI-TV in its infancy. He retired from the station in 1982 after 29 years of service as an engineer. Throughout his life, Mr. Muenz was a man of many interests and talents, but fine woodworking, a hobby he embraced at the age of 17, brought him the most joy. He was a Life Member of the River Art Group the first woodworker admitted to membership for more than 40 years, and his turnings are in collections all over the world. He sold his pieces, signed Artistry in Wood, in the River Art Gallery and at art shows in San Antonio and New Braunfels. A World War II veteran of the United States Army Post Office, he served in Europe from 1941 to 1945. Mr. Muenz is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Dolly Muenz, daughter Cynthia Henckel, son-in-law Ed Henckel, granddaughters Lauren and Kate Henckel, sister-in-law Roberta Schadl, and numerous nieces and nephews.
