Obituary: Marie-Diane Mozelak, aka "Cookie" age 70 of Plano, Texas, formerly of Connecticut passed away on afternoon, 19, 2015 in Plano, with her family by her side, after a battle with cancer. Marie was born on 21, 1944 in Stamford, CT, daughter of Daniel and Marie (Schmidt) OConnell. She married Peter John Mozelak on 5, 1966, in Miami, Florida. He preceded her in death in of 1999. She is survived by: her sons, Brian (Jenifer) Mozelak and Gregory Mozelak; granddaughter, Hanah; grandsons, Gabriel (Emily Crouch) Thomas, Zachary (Shelby) Thomas; sisters, Linda (Michael) Smith, Patricia (Theodore) Morrison, and Sharon Stern; brother, Daniel (Karen) OConnell, and sister-in-law Sonia (Joseph) Sperduti. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. Marie graduated high school in Miami, Florida. She had worked for various companies in marketing, but her most loved job was taking care of her family and friends. Marie was a member of St. Sophia Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church in The Colony and the Sisterhood of St. Sophia. She had also been a member of St. Basil the Great Byzantine Catholic Church. Marie loved playing Bunco, as well as going to the casinos in Oklahoma and playing the slots. She thoroughly enjoyed trips to many European countries and the Holy Land. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the American Cancer Society. Preferrable method is calling at (800) 227-2345. Obituary: Odilia (Dee) Jacques Moynihan went to the Lord on , 7, 2013 at the age of 80 after an eight year battle with Parkinsons. Dee was born 31, 1932 in San Antonio. She was the eldest child of Lucien Jacques, Sr. and Clementine Rodriguez Jacques, both of whom preceded her in death. Dee grew up in the Prospect Hill neighborhood of San Antonio and graduated from the Ursuline Academy in 1949. Thereafter, she attended Our Lady of the Lake University and received a B.S. degree in English in 1953, and an M.A. degree in Education in 1956. On 13, 1965, she married Jack B. Moynihan in San Antonio at the Basilica of the Little Flower. In 1954, Dee began her teaching career at the Ursuline Academy of Dallas, then moved back to San Antonio in 1955. She taught English at Harlandale High School in 1955, and from 1956 to 1962 taught at Harlandale Junior High. She then transferred to MacArthur High School where she taught French from 1962 to 1992, retiring as head of the Foreign Language Department in 1992. While at MacArthur High School, and during the summer vacations between 1964 and 1970, Dee, assisted by many wonderful parent-chaperones, conducted several trips to France, where she immersed her students in the French language, culture and history. It was during this same period that she founded the Texas French Symposium, an annual statewide competition of high school students of French, which is now administered by the University of Texas at Austin. During her teaching career, Dee received several awards, including the Order of the Academic Palms with the rank of Chevalier from the French government for distinguished contributions to French education, Texas French Language Teacher of the Year by the Texas Foreign Language Association, Outstanding Woman of the Year for 1985 er-Service category by the San Antonio Express-News and the Superintendents Award for Recognition of Achievement from the North East Independent School District. She served on the Board of Directors of Ursuline Academy of San Antonio for many years during the 1980s. In addition to teaching, Dee had a lifelong interest in journalism and, while still teaching full time, at Harlandale Junior High School, served as editor of Mary Immaculate, the then monthly missionary magazine of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Upon retiring, she resumed her writing career as a free lance travel writer, and between 1993 and 2006, wrote some eighty travel articles about places visited in Texas, the United States, Europe and the Holy Land. These articles appeared in the Houston Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman, San Antonio Express-News and Texas Highways magazine respectively. Dees sound judgment, compassion and love will be sorely missed by her family and legion of friends, many of whom date back to her childhood years growing up in Prospect Hill, as well as those who were her students at Harlandale and MacArthur High Schools and kept up their friendship with her over a lifetime. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jack B. Moynihan; son, Blair Moynihan and wife, Cheryl of Austin and their children, Macy and Liam; daughter, Dana Ryann and husband, William of San Antonio and their children, Aaron, Kevin, Olivia, Simon and Emilia. She is also survived by her sister, Sonia Jacques Alvarez and husband, Luis of San Antonio; brother, Lucien Jacques, Jr. and wife, Toni of Caldwell, Texas. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dees loving caregivers at Regent at Medical Drive: Chino, Hari, Juan, Malena, Amanda, Jeff, Nathan and Chris. also wish to thank the staff of the Odyssey Hospice on Blanco Road.
