Obituary: Michael Cooper Moss (Mike), of Lake Jackson, TX, was born to Ludizelle and Robert Moss in Shreveport, Louisiana, on 18, 1936. He slipped peacefully from our arms into the arms of God on , 26, 2015, surrounded by his loving wife and family. The passing of this good man will leave a void in the lives of many. He will be forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church on , 2, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Lions Camp, The Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor of Medicine, The for the Arts and Sciences in Clute, or Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Mike loved God and his family. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Mindy Nestor and her husband, Bob, of Katy, TX, and Lisa Cochran and her husband, Bryan, of Lake Jackson; and his son, John Moss and his wife, Theresa, of Morris, IL; and their mother, Rosemary Moss. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alyssa and Caleb Moss, Hannah and Nicholas Cochran, Timothy and Caroline Nestor; and his great-grandchildren, Ella and Jasper Sokolowski; his brother, Robert Moss and his wife, Frances, of Leesville, LA; and many nieces and nephews. Mike loved his wife, Susans, family, Jason Bolton and his wife, LeAnne, and Laura Sepulveda and her husband, Carlos Jr., all of Pearland, and grandchildren, Caden and Connor Bolton, and Carlos III (Mikes Godson), and Mateo Sepulveda. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ludizelle and Robert Moss; and by his beloved sister, Mary Lou Haymon and husband, Tom, all of Leesville, LA. graduation from Leesville High School, Mike attended college at Northwestern University in Natchitoches, LA. Upon graduation, he began his professional career as a CPA in Shreveport, LA, later moving to Houston, and then Lake Jackson, where he established a partnership, eventually known as Moss and Associates. Finally at age 70, Mike retired, but his need to be on the go led him to work as a Marshall at the Wilderness Golf Course. He was lured out of retirement to assume the position of CFO for Freeport Welding and Fabrication, where he worked until the end of . Mike was a charter member of the Richwood Lions Club, which became the Brazosport Evening Lions Club, and served that organization in many positions, including Club President and District Governor. He also served on the Lions Eye Bank Board at the Baylor of Medicine in Houston, and on the board of the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville. Mike also served this area as the president of the Brazosport Chamber of Commerce, BFAC, and the Riverside Country Club. He held positions of leadership in his churches, from being a deacon and Training Union teacher in the Baptist Church to being on the Administrative Board at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, where he served his fellow man as a Stephen Minister for the past several years and more recently as a Stephen Minister Leader, as well as one of the teachers of the Disciples School Class. Mike enjoyed his association with Brazosport Stages. His favorite pastime there was acting, but he also served on the BCS Board. Recently the Grand Ole Christmas Show, which was held in the large theater at The for the Arts and Sciences, was dedicated to Mike The Grumpy Elf Moss. Mike was an avid runner, having completed 23 marathons and three ultra marathons. He also completed three MS150s. This leads us to one of his favorite Bible passages: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 |

Obituary: Mary Frances Moss, 86, of Paris, passed away , 03, 2017. Bright-Holland has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. , 6th, at the United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Private graveside will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen . A formal visitation is not scheduled, however, family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home. Mrs. Moss, the daughter of Neal & Edith Wright Yancey, was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Rockford. She retired from Westinghouse in 1973. Mary was secretary for the United Pentecostal Church for more than thirty-five years. A woman of great faith; the Lord, her family and her church were the most precious things in her life. On Dec. 24, 1949, she married Weldon Moss, building twenty-eight years of family and memories before his death on 17, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Neva Yancey and Peggy Sexton and a brother, Sammy Yancey. Survivors include two daughters; Vicki Trenado & husband Billy and Marla Fortner & husband Aaron, grandchildren; Wendi Burton & husband Nick, Jeremy Trenado and Andrew Fortner, a great granddaughter, Maggi Burton, one sister, Pat Rees, two sisters-in-law, Marie Yancey and Ella Mae Bristow & husband Lonnie along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Joey Bristow, Nick Burton, Ronnie Morton, Phillip Taylor, Derek Bristow and Geron Jackson. |
