Obituary: Dr. Winfred Moore Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man, who can find? Proverbs 20:6. A faithful man, W. Winfred Moore, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, May 8, 2015. Winfred was born 15, 1920 to Sadie and Elgin Moore. He grew up in Alamo, Tennessee and was ordained to the ministry in the First Baptist Church of Alamo after answering the call of God to preach at the age of 19. Winfred met and married his beloved wife, Elizabeth, while they were students at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Winfred and Elizabeth ministered together for more than 71 years before her death. As a student and young man, Winfred pastored rural churches in West Tennessee and North Mississippi. He then pastored churches in Tupelo, Mississippi, Borger, Texas and Birmingham, Alabama before beginning a thirty year pastorate of First Baptist Church Amarillo. the love he had for his Lord and family, Winfred Moore loved the people of First Baptist Church and the Panhandle with enthusiasm and devotion. He often said, If one presents an idea of something good to the people of the Panhandle, youd better get out of the way fast or theyll knock you down getting it done. retiring from First Baptist, the Moores moved to Waco where he became a Visiting Distinguished Professor of Religion for sixteen years. He was also the director of the for Ministry Effectiveness at Baylor and was interim pastor of churches throughout central and south Texas including eighteen months at First Baptist Waco. He thoroughly enjoyed his time working at Baylor and was blessed by the many young people, colleagues and friends there. retiring from an active role at Baylor, the Moores moved ack home to Amarillo where he cared for his wife who was in declining health, and he continued to be an encourager to many. Winfred Moore started his eternal life long before he died. He knew he was daily becoming the person he would be through eternity, beginning now. He did his best, daily, to live his life and to lead his church and community to live within the range of Gods will in every way possible in the here and now. He was a constant source of strength, energy, and encouragement. His adult children and grandchildren plugged in to him for a recharge frequently. Oddly, he was never depleted in the least. How is it possible to be a source of strength and encouragement to whomever needs it without ever being depleted? We believe it is not possible without a very close connection to the source of all life. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a son-in-law, Jim Preston, and a grandson-in-law, Jeff Tankersley. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Gass and husband Jim, and Phyllis Riley and husband Bud, a son, Fred Moore, two daughters, Anne Preston and Maria Patterson, six grandchildren; Amy Tankersley, James Preston and wife Stacey, Trey Moore and wife Amanda, Mollye Erickson and husband Jeremy, Will Patterson and Christian Moore Patterson. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren; Caroline and Beck Tankersley, J.P. and Becca Preston, Wils and Coulter Moore, William D. Patterson III and Hannah Patterson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on , May 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. A private family interment will be held at Llano . are by Schooler , 4100 South Georgia. The family suggests memorials be to Buckner Foundation, Amarillo Program, 600 N. Obituary: Pruett Moore Jr. M.D. passed away on May 29, 2015 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas after a short battle with cancer. He was born on 14, 1937 in Port Arthur, Texas to Pruett Moore Sr. and Agnes Griffith Moore. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956, and Lamar University in 1959. In the fall of 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Ann Katsalis, shortly after enrolling at The University of Texas Medical Branch School in Galveston, Texas. During their nine years in Galveston, their two sons, Pruett Moore, III and Michael Travis Moore were born. He graduated in 1963 and continued at UTMB for his Internal Medicine internship, residency, and research fellowship. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for ten years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. In 1968, the family moved to Corpus Christi where Pruett started his practice in internal medicine at Thomas Spann Clinic. He also specialized in gastroenterology. thirty-two years of practice, he retired in 2000. He was loved by the hundreds of patients he treated over the years and respected by his fellow physicians. Pruett was a passionate and loyal fan of University of Texas and Dallas Cowboys football. He held the same seats in Darrell K. Royal Stadium for over 30 years and cheered his beloved Longhorns through rain and shine. Football season was always interesting with family members being alumni from U.T., Texas A&M, SMU and LSU. The rivalries were the source of many jokes and good-natured pranks. The Moore house was never short on burnt orange or Longhorns memorabilia. Pruetts true passion was watching sports, especially football, with his family and he was a knowledgeable fan who loved to talk sports trivia. He was also an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, working the daily puzzle in the Caller Times and he subscribed to two crossword puzzle clubs. He loved Elvis Presley and classic movies. Earlier in life, he enjoyed boating and fishing. He made an attempt to learn some golf skills but soon decided it was inevitably the source of endless frustration, and abandoned the game. He had a keen interest in early Texas history. He is the great great-grandson of Captain James Shaw, who served in the army of the Republic of Texas and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. the new republic was won, Capt. Shaw was given a land grant by Gen. Sam Houston and went on to found the city of Lexington, Texas. Capt. Shaw was a friend of Col. William B. Travis, commander of the Alamo, and named his son Travis in honor of his fallen comrade. Since that time, there has been a child named Travis in every generation of the family including Pruetts son Michael Travis. Both Pruett, III and Michael Travis are lifetime members of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Pruett and Agnes Moore, brother, James M. Robertson, Jr., sister, Travis Robertson Harris, and niece, Leslie Susan Robertson. Pruett is survived by his wife, Ann Moore; sons Pruett Moore, III (Leslie), Michael Travis Moore; his beloved grandchildren, Rachel Ann Moore, Mason Bryant Hill; his double-first cousin, Barbara Jean Berryman; sister-in-law, Peggy Robertson; nephew, James M. Robertson, III (Jo Ann); niece, Nancy Carlson; and numerous cousins and great-nephews/nieces. Visitation will be , 3, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Seaside in Corpus Christi. Service will be held in Corpus Christi at the Church of the Good Shepherd on , 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the Good Shepherd Parlor. Pallbearers are J. Michael Neff, M.D., Mark G. Strauss, M.D., James C. Hines, M.D., James Miller Robertson, III, Michael Travis Moore and Pruett Moore, III. The family wishes to express its gratitude for the wonderful support of doctors J. Michael Neff, Mark Strauss, Jim Hines, and his other fellow physicians and staff at Thomas Spann Clinic, as well as the staff of Angel Bright Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 700 S.
