Obituary: Maurice Rangel La Montagne passed away on 26, 2011 at the age of 91. Maurice was born on 30, 1919 in Mexico City, Mexico and attended the American School through grade school before leaving for Austin, Texas where he graduated from Austin High and The University of Texas with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after WW-II broke out, he proudly joined the US Navy in 1942 as a commissioned young lieutenant aboard the USS Texas Battleship which saw four major battles including D-Day. the war, he married Grace Elizabeth Mohler, also from Mexico City, and moved to Schenectady, New York to work at General Electrics main headquarters. Soon after, Maurice moved back to the country and city he loved as a child, Mexico City, still working with GE. A few years later, he was transferred to GES offices in Monterrey where he and Betty decided to make their official home to raise their family. Maurice changed career paths for successful industrial manufacturing and distribution business ventures in the development of Mexicos steel industry until 1985, when they moved to their permanent home in San Antonio to be closer to their growing family. Maurice was a descendant of prominent Philadelphian and New York Families and a member of The National Society of Americans of Royal Descent. He enjoyed spending time with his family, managing his investments, playing golf, reading, collecting fine art, and listening to his large collection of music. All who knew Maurice, know that he was never shy to express his feelings or shape an argument. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elisa La Montagne; his daughter, Alice Anne La Montagne; and great-grandchild, Marlowe Katherine. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace Elizabeth La Montagne; children, Robert Weir La Montagne and wife Kristi, Maureen Linda La Montagne, and Maurice Edward La Montagne and wife Jeanne; grandchildren, Elise, Alexandra, Robb, Lauren, Adam, Allison, Seth, Maurice, Jr., Gregory; great-grandchildren, Braden, Huston, Landon, Elliot, Emery, Savannah, MacPherson, and Lillie Jeanne. Maurice will be sorely missed by his family and all those he touched in a special way. A Memorial service will be , May 7, 2011 at 1:00PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park following a reception to be held at the church immediately after the service. Obituary: Miller Montag, born on 18, 1919 in Henderson, Texas passed away on 29, 2002. A resident of San Antonio, Texas for nearly 60 years, he was active in the community, serving as President of the San Antonio Kiwanis Club, receiving the Outstanding Club Leadership Award and the Legion of Honor Award. He also served on the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the Allocations Committee of the San Antonio United Way for six years, and was an active member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for many years. Miller was also a long time member of Oak Hills Country Club and St. Marks Episcopal Church. He graduated in 1941 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas in Austin and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1950. He was admitted as a Partner in the San Antonio firm of Lewis and Montag, and then in the international public accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP, serving as the Partner-in-Charge of the San Antonio office. He served as President of the Texas Society of CPAÂs after serving as Chairman of most of the committees of that organization. He was awarded the TSCPAÂs Meritorious Service Award and its Distinguished Public Service Award. He also served on the Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for six years. He was appointed to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy by Governor Dolph Briscoe, serving seven years, including service as Board Secretary, Chairman of the Admissions Committee, the Long Range Planning Committee and several other committees. Prior to beginning his professional career, Miller served in the Army Air Force during World War II, establishing supply bases in the Aleutian Islands and then with the Inspector GeneralÂs office in San Antonio. He was discharged from the reserves as a Captain and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Hugo Montag and his mother, Della Kinnebrew Montag. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Stille Montag, their sons, Mark R. Montag, Jeff M. Montag and his wife Kim, and Bruce C. Montag and his wife Debi and their children, Blake and Ali. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Louise Kerlin and her daughter Melanie Tawwater, her husband Larry and their two sons. |

Obituary: Joyce L. Montag, 77, of Burnet passed away May 5, 2015. She was born 20, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles Arthur Parske and Leona Madeline Ringle Parske. She graduated St. Aloysius Grade School in West Allis, Wisconsin, graduated from St. Pius XI High School in Milwaukee and attended Alverno in Milwaukee. She married Eugene J. Montag 3, 1957, in West Allis, Wisconsin. The family moved to Creston, Iowa in 1969 where she became interested in health care delivery and planning. In 1973 and 1975 Governor Robert D. Ray appointed her to terms on the Iowa Comprehensive Planning Council which was charged with developing health services to the citizens of Iowa. The second term Joyce was elected chairperson of the Council and traveled the state addressing all 99 county medical societies to gather their views. In 1977 the Iowa Medical Society honored her with an award for her achievement for work with the Council. The year 1978 brought Joyce and family to Burnet. Burnet was a quiet life until Joyce opened a womens clothing store. During the 15 years she had the store there were outlets in Buchanan Dam, Kingsland, and Marble Falls. She retired in 2005. Joyce is survived by her husband Deacon Eugene J. Gene Montag, daughter Lynette Autry and husband Rick of Des Moines, Iowa, sons Guy Richard Montag and wife Sandra of Ankeny, Iowa, James Charles Montag and wife Diane of Leander, Christopher Davis Montag and wife Martiza of San Angelo. Also surviving are grandchildren Eric, Brian, Stephane, Wendy, Spencer and wife Shannon, Tiana, Sasha, and Matthew and great grandchildren Isabelle and Raymond; sister Arlene Jackson and husband Robert of Clermont, Florida and sister-in-law Connie Weiler and husband Gerald. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Obituary: Kathleen Selters Monson, 92, passed away , 29, 2017, in Waxahachie, Texas. Kathleen was born on 25, 1925, in Monte Vista, Colo. to Robert and Myrtle (Porter) Selters. She married John William Monson and together they had two sons. Kathleen was a teacher for over 28 years and taught elementary for the Florence School District. She attended the Colorado Women’s and the University of Colorado where she received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Kathleen was a member of ADK Organization for Women Educators. She was a 72 year member of P.E.O. She enjoyed sewing and quilting in her pastime. She is survived by her children, Bruce and his wife, Kelly, of Waxahachie, Texas and Eric Monson of Houston, Texas; sisters, Marjorie Logan of Pueblo, Colo. and Barbara Wood of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
