Obituary: Dr. Norman Alison Monk, MD - husband, father, friend, physician, humanitarian. Dr. Monk lived this life for 88 years when he passed away 8, 2012. He dearly loved his ride, Ann. During the 65 years he and Ann were together, they nurtured 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. During his service in the US Army, Norman was offered the opportunity to enter an accelerated medical school program and took it. He met Ann Boyd at The University of Texas in Galveston where he was in medical school and she was in nursing school. moved to Morton in 1948 and Lubbock in 1995 where he practiced family medicine and obstetrics, helping to bring over 2500 West Texans into the world. Dr. Monk was instrumental in bringing the medical school to Texas Tech University and establishing Highland Hospital and two medical clinics. Dr. Monk played golf, originally by Rules of the United States Gold Association and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland and later, by Rules of Monk and Hurmence. He was a generous and compassionate man who selflessly shared his kindness, wisdom, and love of life. He loved his family, friends, and patients. We all cherish him. A reception will be held for Dr. Monk on 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Resthaven with services being held 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Texas Tech University School of Medicine Scholarship Account. Obituary: Nathan Andrew Monk came into this world May 7, 1984, at Polly Ryon hospital in Richmond, Texas. He attended St. Johns Methodist church in Richmond, Texas, where he was christened and made Jesus, his savior on 22, 1984. On 1, 2016 Nathan went home to be with Jesus. Jesus told us \Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. In my Fathers house there are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you so. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.\ John 14:1-3, 6-7. Nathan loved Jesus and is certainly with him right now. He lived life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors, had a fondness for sports, he had a particular passion for hunting, especially with his father Steve and his brother Randy. Nathan loved time with his friends and family, and there was nothing he wouldn do for them. He enjoyed being with those he loved, people and pets… Especially his dog Callie. Nathan is survived by his parents, father Steve Monk and mother Debbie Nuttall Monk, brother Randy Clark and sister – in law Tiffani Clark niece Kennedy Clark & nephews Dylan Clark and Blayne Clark. Aunts Linda Otto & husband K.B. and Suzanne Nuttall. Cousins Mattisa Purfoiy & husband Michael, Raleigh Blackwell & wife DeAnn, Amy Bosse & husband Wyatt, Lee Anne Thumann & husband Keith. Nathan was very bright and extremely intelligent, loads of fun to discuss things with. He had his own opinions about everything and could back them up. He graduated from Lamar High School in 2003, and received a Bachelors degree from Texas State University in 2014, in Criminal Justice. Nathan was preceded in death by grandparents Douglas Lonnie Monk, Muriel Monk Tarkington, Arthur Edward Nuttall and Lilye Elizabeth Nuttall, Great-Aunt Ethel Nuttall and Aunt Rebecca Nuttall. Nathan will be missed, by many people, for many things to each person something special. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., , 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn in Rosenberg. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 9, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn in Rosenberg with burial following at the Needville Public in Needville. Pallbearers will include Randy Clark, Cameron Guinn, Mason Guinn, Cody Johnson, Jake Talasek, Justin Talasek, Travis Tully, and Chase Van Slyke. Honorary pallbearers will include Steve Rye, Trevor Tully, Niels Wright, Raleigh Blackwell, Wyatt Bosse and Keith Thumann.
