Obituary: I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still; Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth-- You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you ; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! |

Obituary: NORMAN O. MODER, born 21, 1919 to Philip (former family name: Mader) and Charlotte (Lottie Bishop) Moder at/near Marysville, Ohio passed on to a fuller life May 14, 2014 at McKinney, Texas. Norman was husband to Mary (Hartney) for just over 50 years, father to Norman D. (David) married to Sandy in McKinney and D. (Darrell) Joe married to Leona in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Dad was pre-deceased by his mother, father, and step-mother (Jeanette), his wife, all his siblings, including Helen, Ernestine, Philip Jr., Shirley, Opha and Margaret along with many extended family members, including grandchildren, Nanette and Jeoff. Dad Moder spent happy childhood years with his extended family in the Marysville area following the death of his mother at an early age. When his father remarried the family moved to Columbus and he completed his high school at Columbus South High School. He met his beloved Mary through a mutual friend dating for one year before being married in 1941 at the North Linden U.B. Church. As a result of the war in Europe dad served in the U.S. Army and shipped to the European theatre where along with thousands of others he moved into France and beyond following D-Day, through until the end of the conflict. Dad highly respected his country and was willing to serve accordingly. However, on his return state-side he remained very quiet about his experience overseas \ happier to return to his Mary, infant son Norm, and to a life of peace and freedom. Dad and Mom lived most of their married lives in north Columbus \ Dad working night shifts at the Main U.S. Post Office for nearly thirty-five years before retiring with Mom to New Port Richey, Florida. Dad was a quiet, but firm follower of Jesus, having grown up in the Lutheran Church. He was a long-time member of churches in the North Linden area serving in a variety of ways as a custodian, usher, building chairman and then trustee and church treasurer for about as many years as we can remember. He was an avid sports fan, following Ohio State football and basketball teams and several major league baseball teams. Consequently, the sports section of the newspaper was usually in total disarray within minutes of its delivery. And, if there was a game on television he was most likely watching it. We all watched them together up until his passing. Dad was a good husband, father and even a greater grandfather once he was able to retire from full-time work at the Post Office and part-time at Brinks Inc. He faithfully saw Mom through several hospital and treatment episodes before she died in 1991 and was a committed supporter of Hospice Services that in-turn supported each of them. His warm hospitality to his children and grandchildren in Florida and Texas will always be remembered by them. Even after Moms death he made many driving and flying trips to visit children, grandchildren and friends. And, of course, moved to McKinney to be closer to family (Norm and Sandy) for the last eleven plus years of his life here. Even at the end he was always able to perk-up when he thought on his great grandchildren. We give thanks for a very full life for Dad Moder, the strength and wisdom provided for the life-challenges he faced, and the example he was to all of us. He will be fondly missed by yet a few friends, his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren from Texas to Ohio to Manitoba. Special thanks to several still-living friends at Country View Lane and Stonefield in McKinney along with the staff from those two residences, Amity Hospice, Baylor Hospital of McKinney, Medical Centre of Plano, and South Re-Hab Hospital for their timely assistance and supports in the closing months of his life here. Dad Moder is now interned alongside Mom at the North/Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richey, Florida. Our love and respect for a life well-lived continues until we meet again. under the direction of North/Meadowlawn & , New Port Richey, FL. |
