Obituary: James Edward Miller, Sr., 77, of Sumner, passed away , 11, 2016, at his home.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. , 15th, at Bright-Holland with Rev. Tiny Freelen officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell . The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller, the son of James & Linnie Thweatt Miller, was born 9, 1939, in Lamar .

He was a concrete hauler for Latimore Material and later worked for Hilliard & Son as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons, Brannin Miller, Kenneth Miller and Kevin Pool, a sister, Martha Blanton, two brothers, Billy Miller & Delbert Miller and two daughters-in-law, Rita Miller and Cynthia Miller.

Survivors include children; Harvey Miller, Terry Miller, Hollie Todd & husband Robert, Carolyn Wood & husband Egi, Candy Mauldin & husband Jeff, Kristal Lawings & husband Rusty, Linda Pool & husband Gary and James Miller, Jr., 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, siblings; Jackie Miller, Mary Chambless, Jimmy Miller, Exie Lou England, Gene Miller, Debbie Owens & husband Joseph and Leon Miller along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Casey Pool, Aaron Pool, Martin Rangel, Kenneth Mauldin, Lane Mauldin and Jonathan Mauldin.

Jim Miller died on 30, 2015 in Garland, Texas after a battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.
Jim was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended 14 schools in 12 years from as far away as occupied Japan to Mobile, Alabama, to Ravenna, Ohio as his family moved with the U.S. Army. He graduated high school in 1958 at Austin High School in El Paso, Texas where he met his first wife, Catherine Carol Wipf. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958, and in 1959, he entered the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Bainbridge, MD where he became a member of Section 33. In the fall of 1960, he received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy and became a member of the 12th in the Class of 1964.
completing two and a half years, Jim left USNA to finish his education at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he married his high-school sweetheart, Catherine. had four children and were married until her death in 1990. During his life, Jim also earned a Masters of Industrial Engineering at Kansas State University, an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a degree in Mandarin from Beijing Cultural and Language University in Beijing, China.
Professionally, Jim was a Supervisor with General Dynamics in Fort Worth during the F-111 and F-16 projects. He was President of Border Foods, currently the countrys largest producer of green chiles and jalapenos, President of Pacific Data Services, and President of Sun Data Conversion Services. He also taught Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics, and Logistics at Mississippi State University, New Mexico State University, and UT-Arlington.
In 2001, Jim met his second wife, Janet Jan McKelva and they retired to the Firewheel Golf community, where Jim played golf year round, while Jan sewed beautiful quilts.
Jim loved telling jokes, playing golf with his friends, and watching Midshipman games, especially the Army-Navy game. Jim served his community as a lay leader of the Methodist Church, as President of the School Board, Rotary Club, Shrine Club, Firewheel Senior Golf Association, and actively participated in many other organizations.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine. He is survived by his second wife, Jan, son JJ Miller, of Plano, TX, daughter Mary Miller of San Antonio, TX, daughter Vera Taboada and her husband John, of San Antonio, TX, and daughter Catherine Aldana and her husband Gregg. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on , 7 in the Pavilion at the Firewheel Golf Park in Garland, TX. An inurnment ceremony will be held at the DFW National in Dallas at a future date.

Obituary: James Wesley Miller was born on 11, 1920 in Hamilton, Montana. He was the youngest son of Reverend Thomas Miller & Eleanor Miller. His father was a Methodist minister in Montana & California for more than 60 years. Wesley was educated in California schools, graduating from Corning High School, Class of 1939. While in high school, he was an outstanding distance runner, winning N. California & state championships. He attended Stockton Junior in California, and won the National Junior Mile Run in 1940. He was named to the Junior All American Track Team and later competed for the San Francisco Olympic Club track team.

On Pearl Harbor Day, Wesley Miller joined our United States Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific and in Okinawa Campaigns. He was honorably discharged as a Tech. Sgt. in 1945. We are forever grateful for his loyal service to our country.

Following WWII, Mr. Miller worked as an Advertising Manager for Willys-Overland Export Corporation in Toledo, Ohio for five years. He developed advertising programs for Jeep vehicles in many foreign countries. Later, he joined Dana Corp. in Toledo and served at Dana's World Headquarters until his retirement as Manager of Community Relations, in 1982.

Wesley married Harrietta in 1944 and they were married 48 years before her passing in 1992.

Obituary: James David Miller went to be with his Lord and Savior on , 21, 2006. Born 8, 1928 in Lees Summit, Missouri. Jim was a longtime servant of the United States and his beloved adopted city of San Antonio. James began his military career in 1946 when he joined the U.S. Army. He served as a medic in the 25th Infantry Division in the Far East, and stayed on active duty until leaving in 1949 with an honorable discharge. He immediately entered the Army Reserves where he received his commission as second lieutenant in 1955. Jim achieved the rank of Colonel in 1973, and was Inspector General for the 90th U.S. Army Reserve Command until his retirement from the Reserves in 1976, during which time he received, among many commendations and decorations, the Legion of Merit. While in the Army Reserves, Jim joined the San Antonio Fire Department on 11, 1951. JimÂs incredible devotion to the City of San Antonio and her citizens led to the creation of the San Antonio Emergency Medical Services program. During his Fire Department career, Jim also served as Instructor to Texas A & M University for Fire , offered to Firefighter/Fire Departments throughout the U.S. and many foreign countries, with his specialty being petroleum and LP gas fires. Jim served in nearly every role possible for the San Antonio Fire Department, ultimately rising to the rank of Deputy Chief on 3, 1983. Upon his retirement from the Fire Department on 26, 1992, Jim and his wife, Jeane, lived life to the fullest. The couple tried moving away one time after JimÂs retirement, but soon found their way back to San Antonio. Not content to sit back and relax, even while working as a firefighter or during retirement, Jim volunteered his time and talents to many groups and organizations such as; the Advisory Committee Public Administration Â- Our Lady of the Lake University; Advisor to the President Â- Greater San Antonio Safety Council; Alamo Area Council of Government AACOG; American Legion; Association of the United States Army; Board of Trustees Â- Humana Metropolitan Hospital; EMS/EMT Task Force AACOG; EMS Advisor Member Â- Texas Municipal League; Hazardous Material Task Force AACOG; International Association of Fire Chiefs; National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians; National Fire Information Council; National Fire Protection Association; National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians; Reserve Officers Association; Sons of Hermann Lodge; plus he served many times as guest speaker/lecturer on Fire, EMS and Hazardous Materials Activities. Preceded in death by his father, Robert; mother, Mary; and sister Beverly Marcus. Jim is survived by wife, Jeane, of the home; son James Miller, Jr.; stepdaughter, Patti Stobaugh, and her husband, David, of Conway, Arkansas; stepson, Scott Kuburich of Springdale, Arkansas; and stepson Ted Kuburich and his wife, Janice, of Springdale, Arkansas, and brother Frank Blosser, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jim Miller, 86, went to be with the Lord on 2, 2015. He was born in Goldthwaite, Texas to Tom and Ora Miller. He is survived by wife Billie (Burkett) Miller. Both are longtime residents of Burnet, Texas. He is also survived by two daughters, Cindy Fellows and husband Martin and Kelli Vannicola and husband Robert; and a step-daughter Jamie Reeder and husband Adam. Jim also leaves behind six grandchildren, Matthew Fellows from San Diego, Angelina, Zach, Isabella, and Isaiah Vannicola from Garland, TX, Samantha Reeder from Houston, one great-grandchild, Addalyn Fellows from San Diego, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Leroy Miller and Kathryn Hudson from Goldthwaite, Billy Miller from San Marcos and Robert (Red) Miller from Rosenberg.
Jim graduated from Goldthwaite High School and later attended the University of Texas Pharmacy School, where he graduated in 1955. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and was a Forward Observer in the Korean War. Jim was a pharmacist for a span of over 50 years. Shortly after graduation he became part-owner of a pharmacy in Ballinger, Texas. In 1964, he moved his family to Rosenberg, Texas where he owned and operated Millers Pharmacy for 11 years. Seeking a quieter lifestyle, he bought a small pharmacy in New Braunfels, TX (Walnut Pharmacy). When Jim and Billie were ready to retire, they moved back to Burnet, Texas and Jim did relief pharmacy work for Cattles Pharmacy in Lampasas, retiring for good in 2008 at the age of 80.
Jims passions were playing golf with his best friend Todd Gerald, playing dominoes and other games with his family, reading, cheering for his beloved Longhorns and eating cheese enchiladas where and whenever he could. Jim was loved by so many people. He was a gentle, sweet man and everyone who met him, was touched by his cheerful kindness.
The visitation is from 6-8 pm at Clements-Wilcox , Burnet, TX on , 5, 2015. The funeral service will be held on , Jan. 6, at 10:00 am at the Vanderveer Church of Christ followed by short graveside service at the Goldthwaite at 3:00 pm.

Obituary: James W. Miller went to be with the Lord on 9, 2011 in Dallas, TX. He was born 12, 1930 to Raymond and Gertrude Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine in 1999. James was an exceptional man who was deeply devoted to his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his longtime friend, Norsine Higginbotham; children, Steve Miller and wife Susan, Paula Jordan and husband Robert and Donald Miller; grandchildren, Lindsay Miller, Nathan Jordan, Sarah McLaughlin and husband Ryan, Paul Hoagland and one great grandchild, Katelyn McLaughlin.

Visitation will be , 13, 2011 from 6PM to 8PM at Sunset . A funeral service will be held , 14, 2011 at 3PM at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Obituary: Rev. James Thomas Miller, age 69 of San Antonio, died on , 29, 2002. He was born on 26, 1933 in Decatur, TX to James and Pearl Thomas Miller. He attended Texas Christian University, Vanderbilt University Divinity School, University of Chicago Divinity School and Trinity in Dublin, Ireland. He was ordained at The United Methodist Church Southwest Texas Annual Conference in 1959. He taught at Oberlin , University of Detroit, Beloit and Reed . He served several churches including Point Comfort/Lolita, Beeville, Martindale, Fentress, Somerset, Bracken, Telferner, Nursery, San Benito and Aldersgate UMC in San Antonio. He served as campus minister at Southwestern Texas University, and in retirement volunteered at The United Methodist Student , San Antonio . He served on the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Dwyer; cousins Deborah Terry Smith, Vickie Rev. Steven Purdy, Robert Fred Franklin; sisters-in-law Maureen Dortmund, Jean Hofsteadter, Pat Dwyer; and brother-in-law John Dwyer.
