Obituary: Victoria A. Mery, a woman of great faith, died peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on 8, 2007. Vickie was born in Laredo, Texas on 1, 1919, to Elias Allem and Anita Faour Allem. a full young adulthood devoted to her parents and running their grocery store in Laredo, Vickie married Aziz Kalil A.K. Mery of San Antonio, Texas on 29, 1951. The young couple set up their household in San Antonio, where they raised four children in the Catholic faith and were dedicated parishioners of St. George Maronite Catholic Church. Vickie was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society of St. George and the Bey Aleph Club. Throughout their 39 years of marriage, Vickie supported A.K. in numerous business endeavors including successful venture in produce, oil, and Christmas trees. Vickie had a vivacious personality, an inquisitive mind, a quick wit, and a radiant smile. She will be remembered for her many expressions, both facial and idiomatic. She was fluent in three languages. She marveled at all of GodÂs creation and loved to work in her garden, where she frequently had a bumper crop of mint  ana growing. Vickie was famous for her many culinary skills, including the ability to create delectable Lebanese pastries, desserts that were beautiful to look at, as well as, tasty to the palate, preserves from varieties of fresh fruits; and a special gift for cutting cakes at weddings and other happy occasions. She provided all the women of the Lebanese community with the special syrup mezzahir for sweetening the pastries. Vickie was adept at sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and her many creations still bring joy to her children. Vickie was a very sensitive soul who overflowed with love. She had a gift for making everyone feel special; she never met a stranger. Vickie was predeceased by her beloved husband, her parents, her godparents and her sisters, Rose Buhidar and Jennie Canavati. She is survived by her children: Yvette Marie Haase, Darlene Ann Massad Joe, A.K. Mery, Jr. Joyce and Michael Edward Mery Laura; grandchildren: Alexis Noel, Devin John and Gentry Marie Haase; Jolene Massad Ernst Robert, Jordan Elias Lena, Joshua Michael, Jodain Joseph and Joslyn Massad; Sofia Kristina, Nadia Katrina and Daniel Joseph Mery; Monica Ann Christopher Michael, Victoria Rose and Marina Colette Mery; and great-grandchildren: Regan McKinley, Holland Emerson and Sullivan Browning Ernst; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A special friend is her former son-in-law, Kenneth John Haase. The family would like to thank the staff of the Beacon House, who lovingly cared for our mother; Dr. Justo Cisneros, Vitas Team 560 and the Vitas Continuous Department for their loving care over the last 100 days of her life; and all the physicians and care givers who have cared for her over the years. Obituary: Our cherished sister, aunt, and friend, Cecilia Mery was called to our Heavenly Father on , 21, 2011. Our family was blessed to have had her in our lives. She was an active member of St George Maronite Catholic Church, associate member of the St. George Maronite Ladies Altar Society, historian for the church and recipient of the prestigious Gold Massabki medal. Cecilia Aunt Ce captured memories through the lens of her camera and leaves a legacy of our familyÂs lives in pictures. She loved to sing and was a loyal member of the choir at St. George. She was born 22, 1928 in McAllen, Texas and moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas 15, 1950. Shortly after moving to San Antonio from McAllen, Cecilia began working at Kelly AFB as a Civilian & Military Personnel Specialist until her retirement 31, 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents Amin and Esparanza Mery, her brothers, John and Frank Mery and sister-in-law, Billie Mery. She is survived by her brother Gerious Mery, his wife Elsa and sister-in-law Emilia Mery. Aunt Cecilia adored her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and she always had a little book of poems she would give us to remind us all of the importance of God, family and friends. Obituary: Keith Alan Mervish, 44, passed away , May 13, 2014 at his home in Station. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. , May 18, 2014 at the Astin Chapel at Bryan City , 1111 So. Texas Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77803. Interment will follow in Bryan City with Reverend Dan Marshall of Faith Bible Church in Wixon Valley officiating. Services are under the direction of Memorial Chapel in Station. Keith was born 6, 1969 in Dallas, Texas to Alan and Joan Wozniak Mervish. He grew up in Alief, Texas, graduating from Hastings High School and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. He loved animals, especially his dogs. He loved the outdoors and loved to travel. He was a member of the Christian Faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Mervish; his father, Alan Mervish; grandmothers, Veronica Dunn and Martha Mervish; grandfathers, Arthur Mervish and Victor Wozniak; uncle, Randy Mervish; and aunts, Neva Mervish and Judy Crozier. He is survived by two sisters, Kelly Alonso of Houston and Victoria Gebbs of Richmond, Texas; three step-brothers, David Kowalski of Puyallup, WA, Raymond Kowalski and Lance Kowalski both of Houston, Texas; step-father Gene Kowalski of Houston; step-mother, Sharon Mervish of Montgomery, Texas; step-grandmother, Joyce Mervish of Bryan; and numerous cousin and extended family. Obituary: Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Dorothy G. von Merveldt went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on 22, 2008. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul and her six sisters. She was loved and will be missed by her brother, T.C Shacklett of Long Beach, California; daughter, Paula Barr of Austin, TX; two sons and their wives, Joe and Deni von Merveldt of Dallas, TX; Eric & Beth von Merveldt of Fishers, Indiana; 7 grandchildren- Chris Barr & wife Holly, Greg Barr, Brian von Merveldt & wife Nok, Sean, Kelly, Corey, and Laura von Merveldt and 5 great grandchildren. Born May 1, 1918 in Yukon, Okla., raised in El Reno where she met the love of her life. During their 57 years of celebrating life together they moved many times, living in Hennessey, OK; Wichita, KS, Amarillo, San Antonio, Houston and finally retiring in San Antonio. She was a die hard sports fan, especially of The University of Texas, Dallas Cowboys, Spurs and competitive swimming. She loved cooking, reading, sewing, arts & crafts and being involved in her childrens & church activities. Always involved in whatever parish they moved into, Dorothys exceptional talents were always put to good use. Dorothys family invites you to celebrate her life at a memorial Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Edwin Vigil will officiate. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Centennial, CO 80112. |
