Obituary: Luciano O Mendoza born on 1, 1923 passed away peacefully at home on 16, 2015, he was 92 years old. Luciano is survived by his wife Lorena Mendoza, children Richard (Lupita), Vivian Casas, and, William (Rene) Mendoza. He is also survived by Grandchildren Stephanie McGown, Steven Mendoza, Lauren Vernon, Charles Mendoza, Chris Mendoza, Catherine Mendoza and Tiana Torres-Mendoza, 6 Great Grandchildren, one brother Ephraim Mendoza ( Rosie ), 4 sisters Margaret Montez, Minnie Deleon, Abigail Garza ( Arthur ), Naomi Hodge, and, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Adelfa P Mendoza. were married in of 1942 and were together for 67 years. Together they reared three children and built a foundation that would span three generations. Throughout their lives they set a high standard that was based on mutual respect and high expectations, with the message to always love one another. We are forever grateful to our parents for their influence and blessings that continue to guide us. Adelfas passing Luciano married Lorena Tamez and she would be his constant companion until his passing. She provided him with happiness, companionship, and care until his death. Luciano was a devoted Family man and will best be remembered as a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Luciano always emphasized education to his children, and as a role model attended night school from 1950 through 1975 earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from St Marys University. He also provided the same opportunities and encouragement to his children helping all three to earn their college degrees. Luciano was very active with his church, La Trinidad United Methodist Church. He served for 10 years as the Chairman of the Finance Committee. It was during this time that the major renovation of the church was completed. Luciano served as the Chairman of the Church Steering Committee during the construction of the Education Building and was a member of the Board of Trustees of La Trinidad United Methodist Church. Luciano served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II from 1943 until being Honorably Discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sargent. Luciano started his career at Kelly Air Force Base in of 1946 as a warehouseman, Grade 7. Over the next 40 years Luciano would receive numerous Outstanding Performance Awards and promotions until he reached the rank of GS-15 with the position of Directorate of Contracting and Manufacturing Weapons Systems and Major Equipment Division. Most of all, Luciano will be remembered as a kind and loving man who provided a positive influence and was a blessing to us all. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life fully and would want us all to do the same. Family will receive visitors on 21, 2015 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78218. 22, 2015 a Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 300 San Fernando Street, San Antonio Texas 78207. Following the Memorial service we will proceed to Sunset Memorial for burial and a grave site service. |
