Obituary: Born the second child of Alfonso Mejia Sr. and Primitiva Ramirez, Alfonso Mejia was born 16, 1952 in Corozal, Veracruz. Although born there, he spent his adult life in Houston, TX, arriving at 25, where he met his wife, Rosa Garza Mejia. At the time of his passing they had known each other for 40 years, and been married 38. Alfonso loved his job of painting and remodeling, which he did for 40 years. He loved woodworking, and spending time outside. His weekends were full of building and remodeling his home, spending his free time working outdoors or with his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He frequently stopped by his sister Rosas home for a quick meal or just to chat. He was known for lovingly giving his family members nicknames. He was an extremely positive and jubilant person. He was always helpful and attentive to other peoples needs. He touched many lives and had lots of love to give. He spent the latter part of his career working in Galveston, Texas helping to restore historical homes. It is there that he made some of his lifelong friends. He loved going out to the beach and contemplating the beauty of the water. He left his earthly place on , 5th, at his beloved home. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Rosa, oldest daughter, Julia, her husband Isaac, grandchildren, Isaac (Saa), Ivan (Bam Bam), Jillian (Pelona), and Jeremy (Jeronimo); son, Alfonso Jr., his wife Lillian, and grandson Miguel; and his daughter, Teva, her husband Piedad, and granchildren Blake (Blakey) and Emily (Chaneca), who lovingly called him Papo. He also leaves behind his brothers Alfredo and Pedro, two sisters Rosa Maria and Ana; and, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved him dearly. |

Obituary: Melva G. Meitzner, 86, of Canton, TX, passed away on , 25, 2015 in Tyler, TX. Mrs. Meitzner, a retired retail clerk, was born on 5, 1928 in Elbow Lake, Minnesota to Frank and Inga (Isaacson) Achterberg. Following high school, she married Leonard Iverson. Together they had two daughters, prior to their divorce. She lived in Globe, Arizona from 1967-2012 and married her second husband, Earl Meitzner in 1985. She worked at Carmeds Clothing Store for approximately 20 years and was also a cake decorator. She enjoyed shopping, baking, camping, traveling, fishing and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ella Ellingson, Art Achterberg and Hilda Rand and is survived by her husband, Earl Meitzner of Canton, TX; daughters, Linda Marie Beene and Annette Ruth Meyers; Step-Son, Mike Meitzner of Tucson, AZ; sister, Ruth Lehman of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Leonard Beene, and his wife, Kira of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Kristie Lowe and her husband, Scott; Cameron Lowe and Hayden Lowe, Leland Fuller and his wife, Corrine, Dylan and his wife, Abby Fuller; great grandchildren, Billy Bazemore and his fiancé, Bree Stone; Heather Beene, Waylon Bazemore, Jacqueline Suleiman and her husband, Dr. Michael Suleiman, Brandt Geist, Solei Geist, Alexandria Suleiman, Leland Fuller, Leah Fuller, Aria Fuller, Haidyn Fuller and Landen Fuller as well as several nieces and nephews.
