Obituary: Jack McKenzie of Plano, Texas passed away 25th after a heroic fight with lung disease. He is survived by his Wife, Ellen Kay McKenzie, Sons, William McKenzie and Bobby Joe Lakes, daughters Charlene McKenzie, Paula and Robert Payne and Sue and Ed Paris. His grandchildren, Justin McKenzie, Heather and David Corn, Kristin and Daniel Zeito, Jessica Worley, Micah and Rendee McKenzie, Jonah McKenzie and Joel Payne. He is also survived by four great grandchildren. In Kentucky he leaves behind two sisters, a brother, two sisters in law and brother in law and many nieces and nephews. Always, Jack felt that Pauline Ward was a sister in every way. Jack was born in a humble country home in Flat Gap, Kentucky where he spent most of his childhood before moving to Ashland, Kentucky in his middle school years. Kentucky was always home to Jack and where his remains will be laid on the family land where he was born. Jack was proud to be an American and was eager to serve the country he loved in the Navy. In 1975, after 10 years of service, he transitioned to industry with Rockwell Collins and devoted his life to national defense. Within Rockwell, he grew to become the logistic engineer over the U.S Navy's TACAMO program. His dedication, devotion and loyalty was to his family first, both his wife Kay and their children, but also to his TACAMO family where he always considered his shipmates and the Sailors with every decision or system that he supported. He retired after 42 years combined service and was awarded Honorary "TACAMO" Chief Petty Officer by the U.S Navy. Jack remains a role model for all in industry and it's community to strive to emulate. He was a mentor to all who knew him. He was a friend to all who came in contact with him. And most of all he was a shipmate to every Sailor - Officer or Enlisted who served with him or was lucky enough to meet him. So many of us have been touched by Jack. His wisdom and counsel, his guidance tapered with wit and his attitude that you can always make a fresh start has given those who sat across from him in council, hope for their own lives and future. His children, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and anyone who needed a hand up, have truly appreciated the teacher and the giver that he was. That legacy will go on for generations as it is lived out in the lives of those who took his advice to heart. Jack's favorite scripture was: Matthew 7: 1-3 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? We love you Jack. We miss you. The family invites you to a gathering to celebrate Jack's life on 29, 2013 at 2pm at the Ted Dickey . There you will be invited to share stories and enjoy food and fellowship in Jack's name. Obituary: ARLINGTON -- Gisela H. McKenzie entered peacefully into the presence of the of the Lord on , 9, 2011. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. , 12, at The Church at Rush Creek. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. at Moore on North Davis Drive, Arlington. Memorials: Should friends desire, gifts may be made to Arlington Pregnancy , 2810 NW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas 76012. Gisela was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Berlin, Germany, to Karl and Martha Ruge Beckmann. Gisela grew up in Berlin during World War II. At age 16, she worked diligently to come to America. She met and married Leonard McKenzie, who later brought her to his home state of Texas. She adopted Texas as her home and became a proud U.S. citizen. Gisela devoted herself to her husband and their children with a love and dedication that saw the family through hardship and tragedy. She accepted Christ as her Savior as an adult and followed Him with all her heart. She was a longtime resident of Arlington, where she was a head bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of The Church at Rush Creek and Bible Study Fellowship. She leaves behind a close-knit family who loved her and a wide array of friends who benefitted from her love and wisdom. The family would like to thank A. Saleemi, M.D., for his faithfulness and compassionate care throughout Giselas illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leonard Lee McKenzie. Survivors: Sons, Joe and wife, Kim, of Burleson and Bill and wife, Galena, of Spring Branch; daughters, Valerie and husband, Gene-o Parenica, of Arlington and Karen McKenzie Leake of Austin; grandchildren, Kyle, Doug and wife, Natalie, Stephanie and husband, David, Alicia and husband, Stephen, Brad and wife, Emily, Daniel, Theresa and Jonathan; and great-grandchildren, Andruw, Alan and Greer. |

Obituary: Ellen Kay McKenzie, 74 years of age, passed away on , 27, 2017 at The Medical City of Plano. Kay was born 24, 1943 in Ashland, KY to the late William and Marjorie Arthur. Kay had three siblings, the late Susan Mullins, Mary Arthur and William Arthur. In 1963, Kay married the love of her life; the late Jack McKenzie and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. Those who knew Kay loved her quick wit and sense of humor that could make the toughest sailor blush! She had a magical way of getting you to laugh at yourself and when she zinged you, she always joined in by laughing at herself too. With Kays humor came incredible compassion and kindness. Friends and even strangers felt they could talk to her about all their problems and usually did. Her children have many memories of their friends and kids in the neighborhood stopping by for advice, encouragement and good laughs. She loved her family with an unwavering fierceness and her loyalty to them was an anchor in their lives, because they knew she would always be in their corner. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Kay was one of the strongest women you would ever know. She fought a battle over the last few years that a heavy weight boxer couldn't win but she never quit, never stopped pushing herself she never laid down for the count. Kay leaves to cherish her beautiful memory to her children, William Raymond McKenzie, Elizabeth Charlene McKenzie, Paula Kay Payne (Robert), Sue Paris (Ed), and Bobby Joe Lakes, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many friends and a very special friend, Pauline Ward who was a treasured gift to mom. He worked as a Building Contractor for 30 years and he served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and Civilian Conservation Corps. Douglas is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
