Birthdays and special occasions, you were always there. A birthday card, handwritten, with loving care. Always a lady, manners were a must. It was "yes ma'am" and "thank you", don't make me fuss! We grew up watching "That Girl" on TV. That is what Aunt Judy was to me. A girl from the country that moved away. For she was an example, hard work does pay. All though we didn't see each other every day, You were just a phone call away. Comforting words, inspiring stories, How did this busy lady have no worries? I'm off to church, you would say Have to sing in the choir today. What an honor it was for me, to be with you at your time of need, Your strength was unbelievable, you never complained. I will never forget your caring way, and how we prayed on that last day. Your eyes said you were ready, peaceful in every way. And on that night, Jesus took you away. I Love You Aunt Judy... your Niece Cheryl |

Obituary: Joan Saville McEvoy passed away on 15, 2016. Joan was born in Dallas on 16, 1921. She attended North Dallas High School and graduated from SMU in 1943 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. It was at SMU that she met her husband of 71 years, A. Patrick McEvoy. Pat's service in World War II, she and Pat began their family and raised their four children. Pat kept her busy traveling and with his activities including the raising and showing of Arabian horses where she was "wardrobe mistress" to her daughters. She enjoyed her time spent with friends and in service in The Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Women's Club, and many other organizations. True satisfaction for Joan was to be out-of-doors - not gardening - but working in the yard. Joan saw her incredibly good health as a blessing, a gift which enabled her to make use of her time that could, hopefully, be of benefit to others. Indeed, she was always willing to help anyone in need, always there to nurture her children and husband in her quiet, yet strong way. Once asked how she would like to be remembered, she responded that "I loved God and I loved my family". No doubt. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, A. Patrick McEvoy, Sr., her sisters Edith Charles Gantt, Susanna Clark Grinnan, Mary Seay, Esther Chapman and her brother John Saville. She is survived by her children Charles S. McEvoy and wife Pat Morgan, Patrick McEvoy, Jr. and his wife, Carol, Susan McEvoy, M.D., and Clare Brown, eleven grandchildren, 9 great-grand children and much loved and appreciated nieces and nephews. A special thank you to family assistant and friend, Sabine Rowell, the wonderful caregivers who were so loving and compassionate: Linda Pond, Connie Dyer, all those at Community Hospice of Dallas, and, especially Raul Moreno who became both her and her husband's true friend and companion over their last several years. A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life will be held on , 18, 2016 at 12 PM at Christ the King Church with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. |
