Obituary: Christy Ann Matcek-McDonough, 41, passed away on 30, 2015. Christy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Evelyn Christ; and John and Breese Matcek. She is survived by her beloved husband, Brett McDonough, parents John and Lynda Christ Matcek, her brother John E. Matcek, along with a host of many loving family members and friends. Christy was an Operations Coordinator at MD Anderson, where she worked for more than 16 years. Christy had an undeniable passion for many things in life ranging from her love of her dogs to her job at MD Anderson. Her job at Anderson was not just a job, but a passion for a cure for cancer. She always felt that she was part of the team that could make a difference that would benefit others in their recovery. Her primary passion was her dogs, whom she referred to as her kids. Shopping was her athletic sport, which was all about getting that find. She was also meticulous about her appearance - any kind of pampering which might include nails, her eyelashes, (which she still lovingly referred to as her Chia pets), and tanning. She was absolutely passionate about her job and helping others. She adored her family and friends and was always happy to meet them for a cocktail and great meal. Christy also had an amazing artistic side to her. Christy so enjoyed creating just about anything that she could bring to life from a crazy vision. Whether it be from party planning, decorating for an event, or just creating something based on a whim from a conversation with a friend. Christy could do just about anything with her magic wand and her tiara that she wore, all while enjoying everything that life offered. In life and even after passing, she remains selfless and giving to those in need. A memorial service celebrating Christys life will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn in Rosenberg. Christy had an undeniable passion for helping people. In lieu of flowers/plants and honoring Christys memory, the family has established a memorial fund. There are two different funds for those who wish to donate; MD Andersons Patient Assistant Fund and Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. MD Andersons Patent Assistance Fund benefits those who are lacking funds and will benefit from financial aid ranging from support for their utilities, gas for their cars, groceries, etc. Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network rehabilitates and rehomes bulldogs that have been homeless, abandoned or surrendered. Obituary: Christina Christy Annette McDonough was born on 13, 1976 in San Antonio, Texas. At a tender age of 28, she was tragically taken from us. Christy received her pair of wings from God along with her loving dog Shorty to be his special angels to watch over her family and friends. Christy graduated from Bandera High School in Bandera, Texas in 1995. She was a very energetic person that glowed with life. Her passion was to cook for her friends and family and her love of people showed in her care and positive way she lived her life. Christy always brought love and excitement wherever she was. She learned this from her mother, Debbie Windham who provided a home full of love for Christy, her sister Marie and brother Robert. She loved spending Thanksgiving and Christmas day with her family. She will join her grandfather, Damon Lee of Pipe Creek in heaven to watch over her survivors. Christy is survived by her mother, Debbie and her husband Bruce Windham of San Antonio; her loving brother, Robert of San Antonio; her compassionate sister, Barbara Marie Dupnik and her daughter Alisa of Pipe Creek. Christy was AlisaÂs affectionate and devoted aunt; her granny and domino partner, Clara Lee of Pipe Creek; also her Uncle Scott and wife Gigi, their children, Jasmine and Joseph, and her supportive Aunt Diane and her son Michael from Pipe Creek; fiancé, Bryan Vehle of San Antonio, numerous family members and close friends. Obituary: Kathleen Johnson McDonnell, 83, passed away in Dallas, Texas in the presence of her loving family on , 22nd, 2010. She was born on 18th, 1927 in Elk City, Oklahoma to the late Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Johnson. Kay was the salutatorian of the 1944 class of Merritt High School. From there she went on to a distinguished academic career at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. While at Hardin-Simmons she was a member of Alpha Psi Omega, Alpha Phi, the Spanish Club and the University Players Club. She served as social chair of the Junior Class and on the Student Council. She was elected Whos Who on Campus and Sweetheart of the Hardin Simmons Cowboy Band in 1948. graduating in 1948 with dual degrees in Speech and English, Kay pursued her Masters in Speech at Hardin-Simmons. Kay married Thad McDonnell on 18, 1950 in Abilene, Texas. residing in Mart, West, and Cuero she moved to Levelland in 1961. While in Levelland, she was a wife, mother and grandmother and a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Levelland, Texas. She served the church as a member of the Administrative Board, the chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, on the Childrens Ministry Committee, the president of the United Methodist Women, and was actively involved in the Education and Missions Board of the church. She was a forty plus year member of the Las Fidelas Study Club, serving as president, secretary among holding numerous other offices. A lifelong football fan, Kay was an avid supporter of the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University. She is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Thad McDonnell. She is also survived by her son Tom McDonnell and his wife Kayla Gaskins McDonnell of San Antonio, and their son Thomas McDonnell of Fort Worth and daughter Katherine Anne McDonnell of Austin, her daughter Nancy McDonnell Harlin and her husband Bob Harlin of Dallas, and granddaughter Anne Rose of Villanova, Pennsylvania and grandson of Stephen Rose of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her youngest son Don McDonnell of Dallas, Texas. Kay was the second oldest of five children that include sisters Floy Johnson of Austin, Texas, Glenna Pickett and her husband Rod of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and her brother Seth Johnson and his wife Ruth of Lawton, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her sister Beth Johnson Martin of Silver City, New Mexico. The funeral celebrating the life of Kathleen Johnson McDonnell will be held on , 28th, 2010 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church located at 1011 Houston Street, Levelland, Texas 79336. Burial will follow in City of Levelland under direction of George Price . The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1400 Ave. J, Levelland, Texas 79336 on , 27th 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Women in care of the First United Methodist Church located at 1011 Houston Street, Levelland, Texas 79336 in the memory of Kay McDonnell. |
