Obituary: Mary Lou McDaniel age 81, of Deer Park, TX passed away on 12 at 10:30 pm at St. John's Methodist Hospital in Nassau Bay with her family by her side. Mary Lou was born on 8, 1932 in Cincinnatti, Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late David and Susan Schiering. Mary Lou met and soon married Marvin Franklin McDaniel (Frank) on 17, 1955. Shortly after they married, they moved to RAF Wethersfield, an US Air Force base, located in Essex, England. Upon returning to the United States she lived on or near air force bases in Little Rock, Arkansas and Mountain , Idaho. Finally moving to Texas where they lived in San Antonio, Amarillo, and Abilene eventually settling in Deer Park. Upon arriving in Houston, Mary Lou found employment at the Houston Astrodome as a PBX operator. While working at the Astrodome she became a devoted fan of the Houston Astros and since that time has rarely ever missed an Astros game. Wanting to commute closer to home she left the Astrodome and went to work at AC Collins Ford where she spent the next 20+ years until she retired in 1997. In addition to her devotion of the Houston Astros she was also an avid fan of her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was often seen debating with fans of other NFL teams and always promoted the success of her Cowboys even when they were not performing at their best. She was preceded in death by her father David Schiering, her mother Susan Schiering, her husband Marvin Frank McDaniel, her brothers Robert and Erwin Schiering, her grandson, Derek Blackard as well as her best friends Jim and Lillian Hodges. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Agnew, her sister-in-laws, Betty and Shirley Schiering, her son, George Steven McDaniel and his wife Suzanne, Daughter, Sharon Rose McDowell and her husband Patrick, her son, Dale Edward McDaniel, her daughter, Donna Lee McDaniel and Grand Children, Matthew McDaniel, Kimberly and Jason Oehrlein, Anthony "Chase" McDaniel, Dylan Blackard, Mark and Becca McDaniel, Megan McDaniel, Eric McDaniel, Julianna McDaniel, Maddison McDaniel and 3 great grandchildren ,Scarlett, Sawyer and Taylor and many loving nieces, nephews and good friends. |

Obituary: Command Sergeant Major, Marvin Edward McDaniel, 78, born in Lafayette, Colorado on Aug 3, 1937 passed away Dec 31, 2015 after a 4 and 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was a native of Colorado, but was a resident of Texas for the past 27 years. Enlisting in the Army at the age of 17, he was always proud of his birthplace. He went on to enroll and get his wings in Jump School , and that's where he met his life long friend, Mr. James R Cobb of Colorado. He served in the military for 24 years. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who fought in combat. While serving as 1st Sergeant Tank Commander in Vietnam, he was awarded the Military Merit Medal for tank duel near Ben Het, Vietnam. He was later promoted to Brigade Sergeant Major. He was a member of the Honor Guard serving those who fought. He always felt that his greatest military accomplishment was when he became a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne. While in the military, he received his associates degree in police science and became a life member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He retired from the Army in 1978 as Commandant of NCO Academy in Fort Carson, Colorado. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. His values as a Mason were loyalty, patriotism, liberty, courage, and faith. Quotes he lived by came from his two military heroes- George S. Patton and Douglas MacArthur ...." He loved to work with his hands, getting his work ethic from his role model, his Dad. Coming to Texas in 1988, he retired from Terex Utilities after 20 years. Working as a sales manager, he developed many life long friendships through those years. To his customers, he was a man of his word. He was known for is honesty. He was loved, respected and admired by his friends and family. His hobbies were hunting with his sons, sitting on the porch swing drinking his coffee with his family, watching John Wayne movies, and playing with his youngest granddaughter, Rhegan(Missy) who was Papa's little caregiver. He is predeceased by his father Edward Guy McDaniel, mother Elsie Mae Walker Steppen and his sister Gloria Mazurek. Survivors include his wife Gloria McDaniel; his sister Frances Murray of Lafayette who he loved like a mother and talked to everyday. His sons: Marvin McDaniel Jr. (Mac) and wife, Cheryl; Robert McDaniel and wife, Aleta; Ronald McDaniel and wife, Sunya; Tony Jordan; Christopher Jordan. His daughters: Linda Sabre Carroll and husband, Dana; Nicolette McDaniel Sommer (Punkin) and husband, Russell, his right hand man. His sister-in-law, Darlene Timberlake and husband, Terrell. His Uncle Nixon Moehle; His nephews: George Milanovich and wife, Tammy; David Milanovich and wife, Rae; Mitchell Self; Travis Timberlake; Taylor Timberlake. His grandchildren: Tonya McDaniel; Joyce Brown and husband, John Paul; Tristan Jordan; Willow Jordan; Brady Jordan; AJ Sommer and wife, Rhonda; Brett Sommer; Rhegan(Missy) McDaniel Sommer. Obituary: Graveside services for Marie McDaniel, 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. , 17, 2015 in the Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, TX with Rev. Marion Fonville officiating. Mrs. McDaniel was born 21, 1943 in Leesville, LA and passed away 13, 2015 in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Harriet (Myers) and Jesse Maddox. She was a loving, super mom and homemaker. She really enjoyed cooking and because of that, she was an excellent chef. Some of her hobbies included quilting and gardening. She was an avid people\watcher. She was a member of Braeswood Assembly of God Church and The Quilt Guild of the Pineywoods. Survivors include her husband, Jack F. McDaniel, Sr. of Zavalla; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy McDaniel Mott and Virgil of Sugarland and Tonya Vaughan and Lee of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack McDaniel, Jr. and Renee of Jasper and Jonathan McDaniel and Erica of Houston; ten grandchildren, Julia, Emily, Joshua and Zachary; Michael, Madison; Jack III, Kathryn, Amber; and Mallory; nephew, Tommy McDaniel; and niece, Patricia McDaniel, both of Marksville, LA; and other extended family.
