Obituary: Benjamin Scott Marz, age 62, of Austin, Texas passed away on 29, 2014 after a bravely-fought battle with cancer.

Ben graduated from Highland Park High School in St. Paul, MN class of 1970. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado, graduating cum laude in May 1974. He received a Masters of Arts in Psychology, and subsequently a Doctor of Psychology, both from the University of Kansas.

Ben is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet Aronoff Marz. Their three daughters, Andrea, Elizabeth, and Michelle, were a source of deep pride for Ben.

Ben and Janet moved from St. Paul to Austin in 1984. Ben worked for Factory Motor Parts of Eagan, MN, for over thirty years, ultimately as Executive Vice President.

Ben served on the board of the Jewish Federation of Austin, Early Childhood Program, and Austin Jewish Academy.

Ben is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Marz. He is survived by his mother, Betty Marz, his brother, Charles Marz, his mother-in-law Mimi Aronoff, three sisters - and two brothers-in-laws, Dianne and Elliot Silverstone, Rozanne Kobey, Stephen and Pepper Aronoff. He was blessed with many nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.

Ben will always be remembered for his deeply positive spirit, his commitment to friends and family, and for his remarkable ability to connect deeply with others. He was a lover of life, and possessed a sense of humor and appreciation for life that enriched and inspired everyone around him. He will be sorely missed.

Obituary: Sister Mary Kay Bailey, O.P. entered eternal life on , May 17, 2015. Sister was the daughter of the late Leona Sessinghaus and John Edwin Bailey, Sr. Born in Kilgore, TX, on 4, 1937, her family moved to Houston while she was still in elementary school. Sister is predeceased by her two brothers John Edwin, Jr. and Thomas Bailey. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

graduation from St. Agnes Academy in 1955, she joined the Dominican Sisters of Houston on 8, 1955. She earned her B.A. in mathematics from Dominican and her Masters in Theology from St. Mary University in San Antonio. Sister Mary Kays persistent seeking of truth and her desire to share her search with others shone in her varied ministries. Her students remember her as an excellent teacher: Houston (St. Peter the Apostle, St. Pius X H.S.), LaMarque (Queen of Peace), Galveston (Galveston Catholic H.S., OConnell H.S.), San Antonio (Antonio H.S.). In 1972 her ministry turned to leadership in Religious Education in San Antonio (Holy Spirit, San Jose Mission) and in the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council Office. In 1979-80 she ministered at Oblate . The years 1986-93 were spent in pastoral administration in Pleasanton, TX (St. Andrew, Sacred Heart). Her election by the Dominican Sisters to Council Member allowed her to serve her community in that capacity for 6 years. Returning to pastoral ministry, she went west to Sterling, TX (St. Paschal) and Carlsbad, TX (St. Theresa) followed by a time in Brenham doing adult faith formation. She resided in Taylor (St. Mary) for a time before retiring to St. Dominic Villa in Houston.

Sister Mary Kay will be remembered as always eager to engage anyone with a meaningful discussion on almost any subject, but particularly about Liturgy or Theology-truly a Dominican.

Sisters services will be held at St. Dominic Villa: her body will be received at 4:00 p.m. on , May 20, and a wake service that evening at 6:30; Mass of Christian Burial on at 10:30 a.m., Rev. John Rooney presiding. Interment will take place at Forest Park Lawndale at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of the usual remembrances donations may be made to Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, TX 77021.

Obituary: Sister Mary Denis Miffleton, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, TX passed away on 13, 2015.

Sister Denis was born Orene Miffleton in Waco, TX to Wallace and Mary Miffleton. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word at Villa de Matel Convent, Houston, TX on 15, 1940. Sister consecrated her life to God through Profession of Perpetual Vows on 6, 1949.

Sister Denis became a registered nurse in 1949 after completing her nursing studies at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston, TX. In 1983, she enrolled in a Clinical Pastoral Program at Saint Francis Medical , Lacrosse, WI.

As a nurse and later in the area of pastoral care, Sister ministered in many of the hospitals sponsored by the Congregation, namely: Hotel Dieu Hospital, Beaumont, TX; St. Joseph Hospital, Houston, TX; St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, AR; St. Marys Hospital, Galveston, TX; St. Bernardine Hospital, San Bernardino, CA; St. Mary Medical , Long Beach, CA; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, TX and Regis/St. Elizabeth , Waco, TX. She also spent several years at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK.

Sr. Denis is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Mary Miffleton; her brother, Raymond Miffleton; her twin sister, Sister Mary Judy Miffleton, CCVI, her sister, Myrtle Meier, one niece and two nephews. Sister Denis is survived by one niece, Nancy Marek and five nephews.

A special thank you is extended to all who cared for Sister during her last days especially the nursing staff, and volunteers at St. Anne Convent.

Sister Deniss body will be received at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Villa de Matel, 6510 Lawndale St., Houston, Texas at 5:00 PM on , 16, 2015, followed by Evening Praise and a celebration of her life. Obituary: Sr. Mary Annette McDonagh, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, died at St. Placidus Convent, Houston Texas on 30, 2011. She is now enjoying the fullness of Gods love and presence.

Sr. Annette was born on 21, 1918 to Patrick McDonagh and Katherine Cawley McDonagh in Carracastle Ballaghderrin, Co. Mayo, Ireland. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, Texas, on 2, 1934, at St Michael Convent, Co. Clare, Ireland. Her formation continued on 21, 1935 at Villa de Matel, Houston, TX. On May 4, 1939 Sr. Annette made first Profession of Vows. Sister consecrated her life to God through Perpetual Profession of Vows on 8, 1944.

A nurse by profession, Sr. Annette graduated from St. Joseph School of , Houston, TX, in 1944. Following graduation she served the sick and suffering of every kind at St. Patricks Hospital in Lake Charles, LA; and St. Joseph Hospital Houston. In 1950 Sr. Annette attended the University of Houston and in 1953 she graduated with a Masters degree in Pharmacy.

Following graduation, Sister served as Director of Pharmacy for the next thirty years in the following CCVI ministries: Schumpert Memorial Hospital, Shreveport, LA; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, TX; St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA; St. Mary Hospital, Galveston, TX; and San Jose Clinic, Houston, TX. In addition, Sr. Annette served on the Board of Directors for two hospitals and as a local convent leader. Sister was a woman of prayer, integrity, compassion, and caring. She instilled these same qualities in all who worked with her. In 1992 Sr. Annette moved to Marian Convent where she continued to serve the Sisters as convent treasurer until 2002. She also enjoyed giving tours of the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Villa de Matel . In 2006, due to declining health, Sr. Annette lived at St. Placidus Convent where she spent her time in prayer and contemplation.
Sister Annette is survived by two sisters: Sister Catherine McDonagh, SM of Kent, England; Ann Handy of Essex, England, and a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Thank you Sr. Annette, for your gentle and loving presence and generous spirit in community, and your loving care to all the sick and employees under your ministry. We will miss your great sense of humor and wonderful laugh. We thank Ann McVey and all the Staff at Villa de Matel for their compassionate care they gave Sr. Annette during her final years.

Obituary: Sister Mary Angelica Furey, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, died at St. Anne Convent, on 10th, 2015. May she enjoy the full presence of God for all eternity. Sr. Angelica was born (1934) Elizabeth Furey in Fuerty, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Her parents were Patrick Furey and Elizabeth Bligh Furey. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, TX, on 26, 1952 at St. Michael Convent in Clare, Ireland. Sister consecrated her life to God by first profession of vows on 8, 1954 at Villa de Matel in Houston, TX. Following her religious consecration, Sr. Angelica began her service to others by caring for the children at St. Mary Orphanage in Galveston, TX. Next she was missioned to St. Francis of Assisi School, Houston, followed by St. Frances Cabrini School, Alexandria, LA until 1959 when she returned to Villa de Matel to prepare for her perpetual profession of vows which took place on 8, 1959. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart Dominican , Houston, Texas in 1966. Over the years, Sister taught in a number of Catholic schools in Texas and Louisiana: Our Lady of Fatima, Texas City, TX; Immaculate Conception / James L. Collins, Corsicana, TX; St. Frances Cabrini, Alexandria, LA; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Big Spring, TX; and St. Francis of Assisi, Houston, TX. Sr. Angelica's love for people was expressed in her welcoming approach, cheer, and concern for everyone she met. She lived her life according to the "motto" taken from the prophet, Micah: "This is what the Lord asks of you, only this: to do right and to love goodness and walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8. Sr. Angelica is survived by her sisters: Mrs. Bridget Zanovich and Mrs. Chrissie Murphy, both in the United States; her brother, Bobby Furey of England and brother-in-law, Mr. Michael Neilan of Ireland and several nieces and nephews living in the United States, England and Ireland. Sister's life was one of thanks and praise to God for all His graces and blessings to her family and to the Sisters in the Congregation she served so faithfully. A very special thank you is extended to all who have assisted Sr. Angelica during her last days with us at St. Anne Convent. His passion was golf and he served as President of the Panorama Golf Club in Conroe, Texas. <br><br>His first wife and mother of his children, Yvonne Varnau Marx, died in 1968. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Florence Pullen Marx of San Antonio with whom he traveled the world; his daughters, Joann Knowles, the Bronx, NY, Barbara Anne Stephens and her husband, Kenneth of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hurley and her husband Sean of Nashville, TN, Robert Stephens and his wife Shay, of San Antonio, and Thomas Stephens and his wife Cory of San Antonio; and four great-grandchildren, Julia Melissa Hurley, Sarah Jean Stephens, Henry Stephens, and Wayland Marx Stephens; his step-son Robert Jorrie of San Antonio and his step-daughter Marilyn Jorrie of Bolder, CO, and their families. <br><br>In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Morningside Ministries, 700 Babcock Road; San Antonio, TX. 78201.<br>
