Obituary: Emilie Vrabel Martinka, age 90, passed away 20, 2014 in Temple, TX. Emilie was born on 20, 1923 to Joe W. and Agnes Strakos Vrabel of Jarrel, TX. Emilie was strong in her faith and believed in the power of prayer.She was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX all of her life. Emilie married Anton H. Martinks on 11, 1946. settled on a small farm east of Granger. She spent her time as a homemaker and helped make a living out of farming. In time the couple raised four sons. During this time, Emilie enjoyed gardening, canning , and preserving her garden produce. Her canned pickles and baked kolaches were sought after by all. As the farming operation grew and supported more members of the family, her dinner table had room for all and was the corner stone for all who came. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton H. Martinka, her son Dennis Martinka; her parents; and her sisters, Henrietta Vrabel Wolf and Frances Vrabel all of Granger. She is survived by her sons, Laddie Martinka and wife Dale, Alan Martinka, and Dave Martinka and wife Brenda all of Bartlett; her grandchildren, Aaron and wife Jennifer Martinka of Bucksholts, Adam Martinka of Bartlett and fiancé Amber Carter of Georgetown, Denise and husband Billy Rhea of Jarrell, Natali Martinka of Bartlett, Brett and Neal Martinka of Georgetown, Matt and Wife Stephanie Martinka, Phillip and wife Amy Martinka, Jacob, Jordan , and Jared Martinka all of Bartlett; Also, Ben and wife Ashley Martinka of Bartlett, Elizabeth and husband Todd Steglich of Bartlett, Sarah and David Hejl of Temple, and Grace Martinka of Bartlett; her great grandchildren, Alli, Evan, Wyatt, Jeffery, and Joshua Martinka; Archie, and Clyde Steglich, and Kayley Hejl; her sister, Bernice Vrabel of Austin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held on 24, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm with a Holy Rosary at 7pm at Goodnight in Bartlett, TX. A funeral mass will be held on 25, 2014 at 10 am at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX. Burial will follow at Holy Cross . In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ss. Obituary: Neil Walter Marting, 76, died 20, 2016, of multiple medical problems. An avid golfer, he played numerous European courses. Neil graduated Valparaiso University and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He was a naval officer for 26 years, having flown off five aircraft carriers. Survivors include his wife Dolly, son Robert, daughter Liz Marting, and grandson Jack; Stepson and daughter-in-law Greg and Cathleen Good, and their children Tyler and Peyton; Stepdaughter Holly Good Feirstein and husband Barry and her sons Brad and Philip. He is survived also by two sisters, Barb Reitveld and Judy Tomlinson. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Hudgins, Allen Huffhines, Larry Meacham, Charles McEvoy, Tom McClellan, Merlyn Sampels, Bob Sandlin, Doug Simmons, and Wally Stone. Graveside service with military honors will be held on , 26, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Sparkman- Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas. Obituary: On , 3, 2015, after a two year courageous and valiant fight against breast cancer, and during the few moments when everyone who was keeping constant vigil over her for the last month were briefly distracted, Adela Martinez-Salinas, the beautiful woman with the big brown eyes and effervescent smile, sneaked away just when the sunlight opened from the grey sky, and started her eternal journey with the Lord. Having just recently celebrated her 40th birthday, she followed it with the marriage to her long-time love, best friend, and confidante Raul Salinas III. Adela brings a special poignancy to the many, many friends, colleagues and newly formed family members that came in contact with her. While Adela was small in stature, all who had the fortune to be part of her life knew her large heart of gold. Whether serving as the Lavaca neighborhood president, or throwing birthday parties for her office colleagues, she was always thinking of ways to brighten ones day. Her joy stemmed from being the long-time mother of three precious dogs - Lucky, Cleo, and Thor. Although her degree from the University of the Incarnate Word was in biochemistry, she spent most of her professional career using her expertise in the banking and investment world, having worked for Frost Bank, Chase Bank, and the last five years at USAA. She enjoys having fun with friends, offering tax advice, volunteering with the homeless and at-risk youth, mentoring those in need, traveling, driving fast and buying winning lottery tickets. Adelas ferocious zest for life came from both her childhood, when she lived with her father in Europe, and from her deep spiritual faith. She lives on through her laughter, smile, and words of wisdom within her husband Raul and his family and friends, and her close friends, colleagues, neighbors and prayer community leaders. Adela and her husband offer a special thanks to the Start for Cancer , her medical team of doctors, and the nursing staff at Main Methodist Hospital. A joyful celebration of Adelas life will be held on 17, 2015 starting with a brief service at Saint Pauls Episcopal Church, 1018 East Grayson, 78208 at 2:30 pm followed by a celebration at 9809 Fredericksburg Rd., 78240 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Adela would want people to offer a helping hand to those who need it, and donate to any nonprofit who works with cancer patients.
