Obituary: Lena Faye Martin was born 1, 1924 in Caldwell, TX to Rush and Lena Whaley, and passed away peacefully 22, 2015 in Sugar Land, TX. She is now with her Blessed Savior and reunited with loved ones. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Jack J. Martin, her brother Rush Whaley Jr. and sisters Maggie LeBlanc, Estelle Holcombe, Katherine Hunter, and Irene Whaley. She is survived by three brothers: Clyde Whaley, James Whaley, and Gerald Whaley, stepdaughter Joanne Walker, step grandchildren Cindy and Greg Walker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Faye was a long time member of Second Baptist Church in Houston and Katy where she faithfully attended and sang in the choir. Faye was a proud Navy veteran, serving as a WAVE during World War II. 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service she retired and became a top selling Avon distributor. She was a world traveler whose travel included a trip to the Holy Land. During her travels, she and Jack fell in love with Hawaii, but her heart was always in Texas. A viewing will be held 1, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer . A memorial service is scheduled for 2, 2015 at noon at Second Baptist Church, 19449 Katy Freeway Houston, TX. She will be buried with military honors at Houston National . In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Second Baptist Church. |

Obituary: LeeDon Martin, of Odessa, age 64, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on 14, 2014 after a brief illness. services are scheduled for 2:00pm on , 18, 2014 at First Christian Church 601 N Lee, with Pastor Regina Attaway and Minister Lynn Money officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. LeeDon, born 21, 1949 to Lee D. and Maudie Martin of Odessa, Texas, was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Permian High School and then went on to serve 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas where he served as a firefighter during his military career. He then returned to Odessa where he was a fireman and paramedic before he joined the faculty as a Professor and later became the Department Chair over the Fire and EMS Program at Odessa . In his 27 years of faithful service at Odessa , LeeDon taught MANY paramedics and firefighters, and for that, we are truly grateful for his years of service. LeeDon retired from Odessa , he continued his community service career by doing such things as serving on the Odessa Parks and Recreation Board, Odessa Planning and Zoning Committee, and acted as an Odessa Chamber Ambassador. He is a faithful member of First Christian Church in Odessa where he served as a Deacon and Elder. LeeDon maintained an active education career by serving as a substitute teacher for ECISD for many years. LeeDon is preceded in death by his parents and sister Catherine Berryhill. LeeDon is survived by his wife, Kathy Renee Apperson Martin of 17 years. In-laws, Randall and Beth Apperson, brothers-in-law Bob Apperson, Rick Apperson and Doug Apperson all of Northboro, Iowa. David Apperson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Daughter, Carrie Ann Boone of the Houston area. Sister Marilyn Snyder and husband V.J. of Odessa, Sister Glinda Coleman and husband Jon of Lubbock; nephews Michael Berryhill of Olathe, Kansas, Shannon Snyder of Odessa, Texas, Jon Lee Coleman of Lubbock, Texas, and Aaron Coleman of Frisco, Texas; and nieces Derie Tohkubbi of Odessa and Kyla Donnell of Odessa. As well as many great nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church of Odessa or Hope House of Odessa. are under the direction of Frank W. Wilson . |
