Obituary: Frances Ann Hanel Marek, 87, passed away 8, 2014 in Houston, Texas. Frances was a lady with many talents. She loved to cook, sew, stamping, play Dominoes and Bridge, reading as well as being a crack shot while hunting deer and turkey and enjoying quiet times fishing. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Marek and brothers Gregory Hanel and Norbert Hanel. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Hanel Inderbitzen & husband Rudy, Martha Hanel Davis, Sister Mary Magdalen Hanel, O.P. and Janice Hanel Poinsett & husband Jim; children, Alice Hobizal & husband Robert, Bruce Marek & wife Jan, John A. Obituary: Troy Edward Marek-Bubba to his family and Fluff to his law enforcement family was born on 19, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to Edward and Bonnie Marek. He went to the Lord on 10, 2012. Troy graduated from Boerne High School and began his career with Kendall EMS while still in high school He went on to work for the Kendall Sheriffs office, the New Braunfels Fire Department, Alamo Heights Fire Department, The Bexar Constables Office and joined the San Antonio Police department where he worked in patrol, bike patrol, vice and homicide and retired as a senior detective in of 2011, after a total of 27 years in law enforcement. Troy is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Westbrook; his grandparents, Sgt. Jack Westbrook (SAPD) and Connie Westbrook, and Edward J. and Isabel Marek (Nana and Papa); aunt, Coleen Westbrook Bass; and his beloved dogs, Shiloh, Czar, Czech and Brownie. He is survived by his father and step mother, Edward and Brenda Marek; brother, Jack Marek; stepbrothers, Michael and Mark Finch; stepsister, Michelle Cruz; aunt and uncle Patricia and Craig Mecke and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Obituary: A funeral mass for Betty Marek, 74, of Stafford, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m., , 9, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City with Fr. Sunny Joseph officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. later that afternoon at the Krasna , near Wallis, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., , 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn in Rosenberg. Betty was born 28, 1939 in East Bernard, Texas to Louis and Rosie (Stropek) Melnar. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a Charter Member of Catholic Daughters of America Court, Holy Family #2060, and a lifetime member of KJZT Society #120, St. Bernadette, Sugar Land. When Bettys four daughters, Lou Ann, Carol, Judy and Kay, were younger, Betty was the Girl Scout Cookie Chair Mom for each of their troops. She dedicated her time to her daughters and grandsons schools and activities. She liked cooking, sewing and doing various crafts. When her daughters were school age, she worked in the cafeteria for Alief ISD and Stafford MSD Schools for 14 years. She and her husband, John, also enjoyed going to Polka Festivals. Betty passed away May 30, 2014 in Sugar Land, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Baby Girl Marek; and brothers, Bennie, Victor and Stanley Melnar. Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Peter Marek; daughters, Lou Ann Mowka and husband, Stephen, Carol Prokop and husband, Patrick, Judy Dunmire and husband, David and Kay Marek and husband, Alex Munguia; sister, Leona Carlson and husband, Dr. Rodger Carlson; and grandchildren, Aaron Paul Munguia and Trenton Joseph Prokop; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
