Obituary: Rev. Howard Quentin Marcom, 89, of Levelland entered eternal rest on 29, 2009 in Levelland, Texas. He was born to George Ralph Marcom and Hattie Belle Jones Marcom on 13, 1920, in Royse City, Texas. Rev. Marcom marrried Gwyndoline Nelson in Abilene, Texas on 8, 1942. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers, Raymond Ralph Marcom, Dr. O. Weldon Marcom, Preston Jones Marcom, Dr. Gordon A. Marcom and infant son, Tommy Joe Marcom. Rev. Marcom is survived by his son, Dr. Robert F. Marcom and wife, Glenda of San Antonio, daughters Judy Marcom Johnson and husband, Lewis David, Jr., of Mesquite, Mary Marcom Drake and husband Scott of Ropesville, Texas, and Linda Marcom Siekert and husband Bob of Plano. He is also survived by grandsons Lewis Davis Johnson, III and wife Jennifer of Lubbock, Nicholas Johnson of Mesquite, Jonathan Johnson of Lubbock, Tanner Drake of Ropesville, Tyler Drake of Ropesville, and by great grandson Caleb Johnson of Lubbock, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Rev. Marcom graduated from Levelland High School in 1937, McMurry in 1942, and Perkins School of Theology of Southern Methodist University in 1948. He entered the ministry of the Methodist church in 1942 and retired in 1983, after serving churches in the North Texas and Northwest Texas Conferences of the Methodist Church. He was an active member of and contributor to the First United Methodist Church of Levelland. Rev. Marcom was known for his years of dedicated service to the pastorate, often going beyond the ususal and expected duties of a minister. He led several churches in capital construction projects and contributed his talent and labor in building and remodeling churches and parsonages. He was also noted for his talents in restoring reed organs and constructing stringed musical instruments. He was particulary proud of the home which he built in Levelland for his retirement years. Rev. Marcom was respected for his sensitivity to the needs of the less fortunate. He worked with the Salvation Army and other agencies in response to their efforts on behalf of the needy. His four surviving children especially benefited from his determination that they should have a more comfortable life than the previous generation. All were provided a loving home life, were guaranteed a college education, and were assisted in the beginning their professional careers. Services for Rev. Marcom are scheduled for 10:00 am , 4, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Levelland under the direction of George Price . Visitation is , 3, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Obituary: Robert J. Bob Marco, 75, of Houston, Texas, died May 9, 2010. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1934, the son of Belle and Lazar Marco. Educated at Marmion Military Academy, a Benedictine high school located in Aurora, Illinois, Bob graduated 3rd in his class. Thereafter, he attended The University of Notre Dame, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the of Commerce, majoring in Business Administration with a Finance minor. Because of his ongoing support he was awarded an honorary membership into the Notre Dame Monogram Club and in 1985 was honored as the Man of the Year by the Houston Notre Dame Club. Bobs 53 year career in the automobile industry began as a Branch Manager for Motors Holding, a division of General Motors Corporation. In 1969, Bob became an automobile dealer for Buick/Opel in Houston, Texas. During his career he was also a franchised dealer for Chevrolet, Mazda, GMC, Peugeot, DeLorean and Chrysler/Plymouth. Bob was also a part owner in the Houston Astros Baseball Franchise from 1979 - 1992. Semi-retired and forever the entrepreneur, Bob began a successful executive placement firm specializing in the automobile industry. In addition to his passion for his family, friends, and career, Bob was very active in his community. Living by the motto a man for others, he dedicated his time to serve on numerous board of directors: Houston Tennis Association, Escape , Texas American Saddlebred Horse Association, Northwood University, Duchesne Academy, Memorial Ashford Little League, Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Leukemia Foundation. Perhaps the greatest joy for Bob was serving on the Board of Directors at Strake Jesuit Preparatory for 16 years with 3 terms as Chairman of the Board. Bob shared his hobbies of tennis, golf, baseball, football and gardening with many others. An avid tennis player throughout his life he started the Bob Marco Junior Open Tennis Tournament, held for 15 years, which became one of the largest junior tournaments in the United States. Another joy of Bobs was coaching youth sports such as the Wilchester Wildcats varsity football team and many Little League baseball teams. Through this, Bob instilled the important life lessons of character, positive spirit and generosity into the lives of his children, grandchildren and countless others. Bob is survived by Patricia, his wife of 50 years; son Mike; son Tim and wife Barbara; son Chris and wife Susanne; and daughter Kelly and husband John. He also leaves his sister Rosemary and her husband Gordon and his brother Joe. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Chris, Justin, Patrick, Megan, Ethan, Madison, Sydney, Aidan, Christopher, Lachlan, John, and Julia. Robert J. Bob Marco was a eat guy who touched many lives.
