Obituary: Joy Robinson Manofsky Joy Manofsky went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband A.J. in the early morning hours of , 8, 2017. Joy was born 16, 1928, near Flatonia, Texas, to Boe Robinson and Gertrude Gray. Joys family lived on a farm where they raised cotton and several other crops. Joy and her six siblings worked in the fields and did farm chores. Joy attended Flatonia public schools and graduated from Flatonia High School in 1947. high school, Joy went to work as a night shift telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Soon, she became acquainted with the night shift dispatcher for the Southern Pacific Railroad. The acquaintance blossomed into a romance, and in 1948, Joy married the love of her life, A.J. Manofsky. Over the course of their 68 year marriage, as A.J. advanced his career with Southern Pacific, the couple lived in several towns across Texas and Louisiana. Joy was a dedicated homemaker who exceled at cooking, baking, sewing, and creating a beautiful home. A.J.s retirement, Joy and he enjoyed many happy years, traveling and spending time with their family. Joy and A.J. moved to New Braunfels in 1991 and soon after joined the First United Methodist Church, where they were members of various School classes over the years. Joy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Seguin Chapter, as well as a member of the VFW Auxiliary of the Wimberley VFW Post #6441. Joy is preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Manofsky; her parents, Boe and Gertrude Robinson; and six siblings, Iola Robinson Wehmeyer, Travis Robinson, Bryan Robinson, Mary Robinson Allen, Dixie Robinson White, and Richard Robinson. Joy is survived by her daughter Peggy (Thomas); and grandson Travis, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joy is also blessed with a large extended family and friends stretching across the United States and Germany. Joys family would like to thank the Hope Hospice staff for their exceptional care and continuous concern for Joy over the last 13 months. Additional thanks go to the staff of Elan Westpointe Memory for their compassionate care for Joy. Visitation will be held , 12, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 572 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels. Interment will be held at the Masonic , Weimar, Texas, later in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice New Braunfels, or First United Methodist Church New Braunfels. Obituary: Long time Midlander, Alfrieda Fritzi Manns, 82, died early morning. Private graveside services for the family and close friends were held at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Kathryn Boren, pastor of St. Lukes United Methodist Church, presiding and Bert Bostick, soloist. Alfrieda was born on 25, 1929 in Centralia, Illinois, where she was reared and attended school. She married her high school sweetheart, William H. Bill Manns on 17, 1948. With Bill as a SOHIO employee, they moved to Sprayberry, Texas in 1960, and then to Midland, Texas in 1968. Alfrieda was a member of the Norman Reed Chapter #1010 Order of the Eastern Star and St. Lukes United Methodist Church. She worked as a receptionist, bookkeeper, and sales clerk for various Midland offices including St. Paul United Methodist Church; Mr. Tom Nipp, Accountant; and Upstairs- Downstairs Childrens Store. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years. Survivors include Alfriedas son-in-law and daughter, Jerry and Terri Carter; a granddaughter and her husband, Joe and Emily Young; a grandson and his wife, Carter and Caleb Young; and a host of extended family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the William H. and Alfrieda Manns of Education Scholarship at Texas Tech Alumni Association Endowment Trust (P.O. Box 45001, Lubbock, Texas 79409). |

Obituary: Ardith Lee (Ardi) Thorson Mannos was born 1, 1949 in Flagler, CO to Gene and Opal Thorson. Ardi departed this life on 12, 2017 after a brief illness. Knowing that Ardi gave her heart to the Lord at an early age, we are comforted by the fact that we will see her again. Although she loved her time living in Texas she always considered Colorado home. Ardi worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement when she started a cleaning business where her clients witnessed her tireless work ethic and kind heart. Ardi was married to Ed Scroggins 10, 2009 when she moved from Denver to Grapevine and soon became well known in the city of Grapevine for her generosity and bubbly personality. Ardi had quite a sense of fashion, loved pink, and there was no such thing as too much bling. She was an excellent cook and was best known for her German Puff Pancakes and Lemon Chicken Piccata. She also loved to crochet blankets and made a special one for each of her nieces and nephews. If you were ever in her home you knew her love of animals as you had three Huskies and one Pomeranian greeting you at the door, these were the current four fur loves of her life. You would often see her b-bopping and singing along to southern gospel and 50’s & 60’s era music. Although Ardi never had children of her own, she was a mom to many, a loving sister, and daughter, a best friend that was always there when you needed her. Ardi was preceded in death by her brother-in-law David Morgan. She is survived by her husband Ed Scroggins of Grapevine, step-son Jared (Wendy) Scroggins of Grapevine, parents Gene & Opal Thorson of Strasburg, CO, sisters Beverly Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO and Debra Deines of Strasburg, CO, brother Clifton (Shirley) Thorson of Twin Falls, ID, nieces and nephews Angela (John) Gonzales, Holly Ramos, Brian (Heather) Deines, Jenna (Michael) Middleton, Courtney (Brad) Leyshon, great-nieces and nephews Jessica (Eli) Fell, Brandon Ramos, Brooke Ramos, Aidan, Rhyan, Liliana, Jaxen, Jaydon, Hendrix, Jager, and great-great nephews Isaiah and Theodore. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Euless on , 17th at 11:00. A memorial service will also be held in Strasburg, Colorado at a later date.
