Obituary: Linda Ruth Knox Manning, age 53, passed away , 23, 2002, after a very short illness of ovarian cancer. Linda was born in Dallas, Texas on 8, 1949 to Elmer and Louise Knox. She graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Began her teaching career in the Alamo Heights school district in San Antonio, Texas. Later she taught elementary school in Boerne, Texas. moving to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1995, she became the athletic director at Incarnate Word Middle School. She loved teaching youngsters about health and fitness. many years of working with children she became involved in the family business as the comptroller in Corpus Christi, Texas and resided in Rockport, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas and an active member of the Rockport Country Club WomenÂs Golf Association. She was an avid runner and fitness advocate. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband, Bill Manning; her daughters, Reagan Leigh Malatek, Lindsay Malatek Chapman Frank, and Sandra Manning Stanley Mark; her son Hunter Knox Malatek; and three grandchildren, Alissa Davenport, Taylor Davenport, and Colby Manning; her mother, Louise Baker Knox; brothers, Bill Knox Genie, and Larry Knox. |

Obituary: Josephine is preceded in death by her husband Charles Warren Manning; sons Charles Michael and Daniel Henry Manning; her parents Daniel and Olivia Bratton; siblings Daniel Bratton and Mary Ann Castillo. She is survived by one son Timothy Roderick Manning; siblings Jesse Bratton, Virginia De Los Santos and Olga Solis and brother-in-law Victor Solis; grandchildren Charles Edward Manning, Patricia Grace Starr, Vanessa Rose Manning, Patrick Michael Manning, Christina Michelle Alexander and Tomas Anthony Manning; great grandchildren Charles Joseph and Katelyn Breanna Manning; Megan Valerie, Sheldyn Rebecca, and Bradley Michael Starr; Clarence and Rand Manning; Andrea and Benjamin Samuel Hevner, Franklin Anthony and Gabriel Thomas West; Calvin and Ann Marie Manning; great-great grandson Nathaniel Salas. Born in Laredo, TX to Daniel and Olivia Bratton she was the eldest of six children and a self-professed daddys girl. She was fond of all of her siblings, but shared a special bond with her sister Virginia De Los Santos. Josephine was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. She attended Our Lady of the Lake University where she earned a B.A. in history and a M.A. in Education. She served in the Army Womens Auxiliary Corps during WWII. Her husband Charles Warren Manning was also a WWII veteran. All three of their sons joined the Army and were veterans of the Vietnam War. One grandson, Patrick, was in the Army National Guard. Her teaching career started at St. John Boscos Catholic School. It concluded with a 22 year run teaching first grade at Carvajal Elementary School on the west side of San Antonio. As an ESL teacher she touched the lives of many families in the community . Josephine was a devoted wife. A widow for the last 39 years, she never stopped loving her husband. She looked forward to the day she would see him again. He had some answering to do she said. He had left her alone for too long. Josephine dedicated her life to taking care of her three boys. So much so that when she went to college in the 60s her eldest son, Charles Michael, wanted to know why it was so important that she should go because it was interfering with her picking him up on time from school. Whenever her sons needed her she did everything within her means to help them. Although she was bed bound for the last 12 years of her life she was still a high spirited individual. She was quick with smile and sharp as a tack. Anyone who came through her door knew exactly what she was about. She never gave up her love of life. She said that when the Good Lord called her home there wouldn be anything anyone could do about it. He called and she went. She will be forever loved and always missed. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., , 3, 2016 at Sunset . The Service will be 12 noon, , 5, 2016 at Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National . |
