She joined the Air Force at the age of 19. Following her marriage, she left the military to raise her children. the children entered school, she worked for the New York City Police Department as a coder for 10 years. She moved first to Ft. Worth, then, found her way to San Antonio where she was employed at Ft. Sam Houston. Gloria enjoyed crocheting, movies and was an avid CSI fan. Her passions were her yard, her home, her cats and her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Farmer and husband Lowell, and Sandra Cooper; sister, Rose Marie Scott and husband Donald D.; grandchildren, Meagan, Jessica, David and Tiffany. Obituary: Myra Haslett Magnon died peacefully at her home on May 26, 2009, at the age of 86. Mrs. Magnon was born 24, 1923, in Southsea, England, to the late Maude and Matthew Haslett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Louis A. Magnon; her son, 1st Lieutenant Myron W. Magnon, KIA/Vietnam in 1968; and her sister, Evelyn Payne and her husband, Reggie Payne. Mrs. Magnon is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tony Magnon wife Jackie, Ryan Magnon wife Aimee, Taylor, Austin and Garrett Magnon, Cpl. Craig Magnon, Doctor Robert Magnon wife Doctor Karen, Grant Magnon and Jason Magnon, Deborah Magnon Huling husband Carl, Amanda Aucoin, Kyle Huling and Gabriela Huling, SSG Gregory Magnon wife Rhonda and Aimee and Teri Sponagel. Mrs. Magnon is also survived by her brother Charlie Haslett wife Marion and her late husbands siblings, Livia Martinez husband Eloy, Lucha Rojas, Lupita Barnes husband Jim, and sister in law, Ernestine Magnon wife of the late George and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Magnon spent her childhood in Southsea, England where her father was a member of the Royal Navy. She then moved to London as a teenager. While in London during World War II, Mrs. Magnon joined the Womens Corps and worked on Bakers Street. Many a day and night, she worked putting out the flames from the bombs dropped on London during the War. In 1944 she married First Sergeant Louis A. Magnon from San Antonio, Texas. the war she moved to San Antonio with her husband and met the loving Magnon family. thirty one years as an Army wife, CPT and Mrs. Magnon retired in San Antonio. Mrs. Magnon will be remembered for her strong sense of family first.

Obituary: Maurine Magnon, age 91, passed away , 18, 2008. She was born in Dallas, Texas to John K. and Lillian Randall Patterson who moved to San Antonio, TX when Maurine was one year old, only to move back to Dallas, for a year, but returning to San Antonio permanently. She attended Beacon Hill and later Travis Elementary, Mark Twain Middle School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Selecting Baylor for Women in Belton, TX now University of Mary Hardin Baylor for a higher education she earned a BA and later from Texas State for women in Denton, TX, now Texas State University for women with a MA degree. While at Baylor she founded the Spanish Club and was voted a member and later President of the Honorary Spanish Fraternity. Ever wanting to further her studies in the Spanish language, she attended summer school studies in Saltillo, Mexico; Mexico City University summer school; Madrid summer school and the University of la Habana, Cuba, summer classes. She was a classroom teacher for the SAISD for over 40 years. In 1960 she met Bernard A. Magnon, dated, became engaged and married at the Chapel of the First Baptist Church. When Bernard and Maurine retired they spent more time on the International Black and White Ball founded by Bernards mother, Maria R. Magnon, and spring and summer months traveling in Mexico, U.S.A, Hawaii, Alaska; Canada and Western Europe. Bernards death Maurine carried on as Director of the Ball. She also is a lifetime member of the State Assoc. Of Classroom Teachers. SA Area Retired Teachers Assoc. Harp and Shamrock Society of S.A., for 25 yrs to the State Assoc. Of Texas Pioneers, S.A. Gardenia and Musical Society at an early age. She also has written and copyrighted various Spanish Manuals, incl. Sure Start conversation 3 parts and co-sponsored a Spanish manual for elementary students, Vamos A Hablar. Maurine is survived by her nephews, John C. Patterson of McKinney, TX and Randall W. Patterson of Kemp, TX; numerous great and great-great nephews; and nieces and numerous friends and exstudents of Fox Vocational and Technical High School and Edison High School. Special thanks go to the dedicated members of the Executive Committee of the International Black and White Ball for their support to the Ball and to Bernard and Maurine personally. It was Bernards and now Maurines wishes that the Ball be continued.

Louis Aurellano Magnon, of San Antonio, born 6, 1920, passed away , 24th, 2008. He was preceded in death by his son, 1 Lieutenant Myron Magnon, KIA/Vietnam 1968, and his parents, Antonio Magnon, interpreter at the Bexar courthouse and Texas Ranger, and Maria Rodriguez Magnon, founder and director of the Selene Clubs International Black and White Ball held annually in until the year following her death; and his brothers, Alberto Magnon, Antonio Magnon, Oscar Magnon, Bernard Magnon, and George Magnon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Myra Haslett; and his children and grandchildren, Tony Magnon wife Jackie, Ryan Magnon and Craig Magnon, Doctor Robert Magnon wife Doctor Karen, Grant Magnon and Jason Magnon, Deborah Huling husband Carl, Amanda Aucoin, Kyle Huling and Gabriela Huling, Gregory Magnon, S.S.G. wife Rhonda and Aimee and Teri Sponagel. Mr. Magnon is also survived by his siblings, Jessie Magnon, Livia Martinez husband Eloy, Lucha Rojas, Lupita Barnes husband Jim, brother in law and sister in law, Charlie and Marion Haslett, and Sister in Law, Ernestine Magnon wife of the late George and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Magnon graduated from high school in 1938 from Fox Tech in San Antonio. He then became an active duty service member in the Texas National Guard. At the onset of World War II, Mr. Magnon was deployed in one of the first units of American soldiers sent to England. There he served as the Staff Sergeant for the Electronic Training Group, whose purpose was to recruit American scientists to assist the British in the implementation of radar in the Battle of Britain. While stationed in London, England he met and married Myra, his wife of sixty four years. Following World War II, he served thirty one years active duty in the United States Army, including tours of Germany, Korea, Panama, and Bolivia where he was involved in counter terrorism activities. retiring from the United States Army, he worked as a supply officer for the Dekalb Police Department, Dekalb, Georgia. In the early 1980s he returned to San Antonio where he became a member and President of the 36th Infantry Division, San Antonio Chapter. Mr. Magnon will always be remembered for his love of country, love of family and his great sense of humor.

Thomas was always a good provider for his family. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and father in law.

He enjoyed drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes while listening to his police scanner. He also enjoyed watching old movies. He especially liked the old westerns.

Thomas was loved dearly by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
