Obituary: Michael Reilly McGuire, 18, of Bartlett, TN, passed away , 22, 2014, after a brief illness. He was on a soccer scholarship to Belmont Abbey in NC. His homegoing celebration will be 6 pm , 28, at Bartlett Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 4. Private burial will be , 29. He was born in Amarillo, TX, on 5, 1996, to Jeff and Donna McGuire. He is also survived by his sisters, Abby and Nikki McGuire, and his brother, Jeffrey (Boomer) McGuire, his grandparents Mike and Pat Ford of Bartlett, grandmother Cheryl McGuire of Albuquerque, his great-grandmother Lois Daniels, and his large extended family, coaches, and beloved friends. Michael played soccer for Collierville Lobos, Tennessee Soccer Club, and the Tennessee ODP. He was also a 4-year varsity starter at St. Benedict at Auburndale, where he was voted captain, All-Metro, and Defensive MVP. He was a 4-year scholar athlete and a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Rho Kappa, and also served as a Senior Retreat Leader. He has volunteered his time with TOPsoccer, at the soup kitchen, Race for the Cure, and as a rec leader in the childrens department of Bartlett Baptist Church each summer. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up to assist the family with expenses. Obituary: Matilene McGuire, 85, of Memphis, TN., died at her home 31, 2011. She was born in Ripley, Mississippi to Oscar and Lottie Griffin Jones. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Odell (Buster) McGuire. Matilene met Buster through her mother who ran a Boarding House in Memphis. Buster proposed on 19, 1952 and the next morning she asks permission from her parents to marry. were married on May 3, 1952. Matilene began piano lessons at a very early age, she enjoyed playing the piano and was very active in drama club and speech during her high school years. She was a graduate of Freed Hardeman University where each year during the lectureship she would entertain for the appreciation dinners. She loved to entertain along with her Little Sweet and Low, that was the way she referred to her love, Buster. One of her greatest pleasures was playing and singing with Buster for the residents at Kirby Pines where she resided. Matilene worked with the government for some 30 plus years. Matilene was a long time active member of the Getwell Church of Christ. Memorials should be sent to the Memphis School of Preaching. |
