Obituary: Mildred W.McCoy, age 90 of Lake City, passed away peacefully 16, 2015 at Methodist Medical with her family by her side. Although she faced many challenges in her journey she never wavered in her faith. She was the foundation of her family and an inspiration to all who knew her. She spent many years as a LPN at Methodist Medical in Oak Ridge. She cared for and gave both physical and emotional support for her family and her friends. She will be sorely missed. Mildred was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Cas McCoy; daughter, Judy Freeman; father, William Branum; mother, Viola Loy Barnett; granddaughter, Kimberly Gayle Phillips; grandson, Pierce Freeman. Obituary: Linda Stroud McCoy, age 75, of Knoxville , passed away , 12, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. She was surrounded by her family; husband, James B. McCoy, originally from Oklahoma, who served at the Pentagon as a Col. Under President Reagan; Her two loving children, Bob Stroud and Angela Stroud Plese who own the Window Source of East Tennessee; Daughter-in-Law, Deborah Stroud. Survivors include: Son-In-Law, David V. Plese; Granddaughters, Ashley Stroud, Sierra Plese, and Shannon Plese; Grandsons Daniel and Alex Plese. Sister-In-Laws: JoAnn Redmond and Shelby Stroud; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Stroud, who passed away at age 47 after suffering an aneurism; Mother, Mabel Melton, who passed away recently at the age of 95;and Father, James R. Melton, also afflicted with Alzheimers. Linda had Polio as a child but survived due to a strong faith in Christ and many prayers throughout Knoxville. She graduated from Fulton High School and enjoyed several Reunions with classmates and life long friends. She had an excellent career with TVA and later Intra Corp. Though only 411, Linda never met anyone who could out-work her. Upon marrying her 2nd husband, Jim McCoy, they built a home in Rarity Bay (Loudon) to enjoy retirement, golf, and life on the lake. At Rarity Bay they were surrounded by a community of friends who shared their zest for life and love of East Tennessee. The family will have a Graveside Service at Lynnhurst , , Jan. 20th at 10:30 am. Everyone is asked to meet in the Lynnhurst parking lot by 10:15 to line up for the procession. Pastor Dr. Alan Price will officiate. Following the service, everyone is invited to attend a Celebration of Life Reception inside Lynnhurst at 2300 Adair Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Pat Summitt Foundation supporting the Pat Summitt Alzheimer Clinic at the University of Tennessee Medical , 520 W.
