Obituary: Mrs. Montell Rivers Frazier McDaniel entered into her rightful place of heavenly rest on , 6, 2016 after an extended illness. She was born on 7, 1934 to the parentage of Mr. Horace Rivers and Mrs. Thelma Rivers. Affectionately and often called Muntell or Ma Montell, she attended the public schools of Darlington , where she was born and raised. moving to Florence, she joined Shekinah Glory Seventh Day Adventist Church (formerly Oakland Avenue SDA Church) where became a life-long, committed member, serving on the Usher Board, Dorcas Society and Pathfinders Youth Group. Whatever she was called upon to do, she gave it her best. One of her favorite activities was to go out in the community and raise funds or ingather for the church. Whether it was selling magazines or ads, canvassing at NASCAR events, soliciting local businesses for donations....it did not matter! Sister Frazier, as she was called by her fellow church members, was always among the top producers, often exceeding the fundraising goals that were set by the church. A skilled seamstress, Montell enjoyed making clothes, home furnishings and just about anything else she could design and sew. She was formerly employed by several local manufacturing companies as a machine operator. Sewing was one of her favorite hobbies and she made many fashionable outfits for family members and friends. she retired from work, Montell remained active throughout her life and was known throughout the community for her bright smile and nurturing spirit. She was a friend to everyone she met and would always share a word of encouragement (and advice) for those who were willing to listen. Many in the community witnessed her generous nature of providing food, car rides, and even allowing the less fortunate to use her home to bathe and get a home cooked meal. Not one to decline an opportunity for adventure, Montell loved to travel and explore. In 1979, when her youngest son, Julius, joined the Air Force and left behind his motorcycle, Montell decided to take lessons and learn to drive it herself! Many in the neighborhood looked on in disbelief when they realized the person riding on Julius motorcycle was....his Mama!! When Father Time decided it was time for Montell to trade in her motorcycle helmet for a pair of walking shoes, she still did not slow down. She loved to walk and would take daily walks throughout the neighborhood, outpacing anyone who attempted to outwalk her. Even during visits to see her grandchildren, one of her memorable activities with them was taking them for walks to see who could keep up with whom! Even as her health declined, she still maintained her energetic smile and positive outlook. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her oldest son, Ernest Frazier, Sr., her sisters, Mrs. Edell Pettigrew, Mrs. Joyce Hickson and Mrs. Ella Mae Williams and her brother Horace Rivers. Left to cherish these precious memories and more are her: Daughters - Rev. Martha Ann Frazier of Florence, SC; Jessie F. (Anthony) Ham of Flushing, NY; and Monya (Charles) Rutland of Macon, GA; Sons - Manson (Kenya) Frazier of Las Vegas, NV and Julius Frazier of Florence, SC; Daughter of the Heart - Mishane Blount of Florence, SC; Grandchildren - Rev. Timothy (Yvonne) Quillens, Sr., Ernest (Sandra) Frazier, Jr., KevIn (Priscilla) Frazier, Kimberly F. Patterson, Derek Taylor, Justin McWhite, Princess F. Bethea, Michela Frazier, Hollidai Frazier, Meghan A. Ham, Destinee Frazier, Elijah Rutland, Edna Rutland, Thomas Rutland and Myles Blount Brown; Great-Grands - Timothy Quillens, Jr., Tyler Quillens, Aaliyah Frazier, Jonathan Frazier, Lawrence Muldrow, Anique Frazier, Angelica Patterson, Imani Bethea, Isaiah Bethea, Caine Frazier, Ki-Yu Frazier, Jaxson Ham. Sisters - Mrs. Julia Samuel and Mrs. Willie Mae Jordan (her twin); Brothers - Tony Rivers and Roland Rivers; former spouse, Mr. J. C. Frazier and will-always-be-her-daughter-in-law, Ms. MaryAnn Bonaparte Frazier and a loving abundance of extended family and friends. |
