Reverend McVay Is survived by his wife of 56 years \ Molly (McNeal) McVay, 5 children and their families \ Pamela Jean McVay of Semmes, Alabama, Scott and Sheila (McVay) Jennings of Chunchula, Alabama, Angelia McVay of Citronelle, Alabama, Nicole McVay Eckert of Rockville, Maryland, and William H. McVay, Jr of Rockville, Maryland. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. From Jena, Louisiana born to Yancey Lacy McVay and Spivie L. Kennon McVay, 27, 1936. He is predeceased by three of his siblings \ Dairus McVay (1948) Lacy McVay, (2013), Virginia Parmer (2014) , and is survived by two sisters Mike and Melba (McVay) Christie of Magnolia, Arkansas and Ernestine Pierce of Semmes, Alabama. Reverend McVay was baptized in 1970 in Fairview, Alabama and began his life of serving the lord. He was ordained a minister in the Church of Jesus Christ by his Father-in-Law, William McNeal in 1971. He ministered across the South (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida), held tent revivals in multiple locations over the years and made huge contributions in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. He also preached on the radio in Lucedale, Mississippi (WRBE) for over 30 years. Reverend McVay retired from Scott Paper (now Kimberly Clark) \ had several different positions in the 23 numbers of years he was there. Reverend McVay was also very proud of his service as Union President for Local 873. services will be held from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens on , 11, 2014 at 10 AM. Obituary: Thomas Lockwood McVay, age 84, a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama died 21, 2014. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., , 25th, followed by a service at Memory Chapel located at 2200 Skyland Blvd with Dr. Timothy Lovett officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen at approximately 12:30 p.m. Memory Chapel , a Dignity Memorial Provider, is directing.Tom graduated from Baylor Military Academy of Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1948. He attended the University of Alabama and worked for the U. S. Bureau of Mines for 38 years as a Metallurgist responsible for the safety of all coal and gold mines throughout the entire United States.Known for his love of history, and his extensive expertise as an appraiser of Civil War accoutrements and WWII collectibles, Tom spent time in Gettysburg as a historical appraiser for the Horse Soldier. He was instrumental in organizing the Flying Tigers AVG and CNAC 40th reunion in 1982, and devoted many decades to studying and researching history. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Along this journey, he made lifelong friends throughout the country who shared his passion for history.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dr. Thomas Newkirk and Leta McVay; sisters, Mary Jane McVay Allen and McVay Veal. Obituary: Ted Eustace McVay, 97, of Jackson, died on 8, 2014. He was born in Jackson on 26, 1916, to Joseph Blake and Laura Alice McLeod McVay. He graduated in 1936 from State Secondary Agricultural School in Jackson, and was a member of the undefeated football team from the preceding fall. In 1941, he married Mary Mae McLendon, and in World War II, served as an airplane mechanic in the European Theater of Operations with the Army Air Corps. Following the war he returned to Jackson and then in 1954 moved with his wife and three children to Demopolis, where he worked for Lone Star Cement Corporation until his retirement in 1981. He then returned to his home in Clarke . He was a faithful member of Peniel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Mazie Blackwell McVay, and nine sisters and brothers. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Mae McVay; his daughter, Joyce McVay (Frank) Bruscato of Coldspring, TX; his sons, Ted (Cathy) McVay, Jr. of Auburn, AL, and Blake Daniel (Reinette) McVay of Jackson; four grandchildren: Dianne Bruscato (Brad) Tyler of Boerne, TX, John David (Megan) McVay of Durham, NC, and Daniel and Joseph McVay of Jackson; two great-grandchildren: Audrey and Addisen Tyler of Boerne, TX; two brothers: Gene McVay of Jackson, and Jack McVay of Mobile, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be take place on , 10, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Lathan of Jackson, and one hour before the funeral service, which will be conducted on , 11, at 10:00. Obituary: Mae McLendon McVay, 93, of Jackson, died on 1, 2015. She was born in Jackson on May 20, 1921, to Joe C. and Mary May McLendon. In 1939, she graduated from State Secondary Agricultural School in Jackson, where she played on the basketball team and graduated as the salutatorian. She attended Business in Mobile and worked as a legal secretary. On 2, 1941, she married Ted Eustace McVay, with whom she lived in Mobile, Jackson, Demopolis, and Jackson again, during their 73-year marriage. She was a faithful member of Peniel Baptist Church, and throughout her life she was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her children and grandchildren are grateful to have been hers and to have been able to share in her life for so long. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and four brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Joyce McVay (Frank) Bruscato of Coldspring, TX; her sons, Ted (Cathy) McVay, Jr., of Auburn, AL, and Blake Daniel (Reinette) McVay of Jackson; four grandchildren: Dianne Bruscato (Brad) Tyler of Boerne, TX, John David (Megan) McVay of Durham, NC, and Daniel and Joseph McVay of Jackson; two great-grandchildren: Audrey and Addisen Tyler of Boerne, TX; one sister, Martha Jo McLendon Mathews of Pensacola; and numerous nieces and nephews.
