Obituary: Charles was born to parents Chester Leroy and Arda Beth (Bliss) Morgan in Spokane, Washington during WWII. He had an 18 month-old sister, Marianne, born in 1944. the war, the family moved to North Bend- Coos Bay, Oregon area. His father went into the logging business, and his mother was a homemaker. Later, another sister, Barbara was born in 1948, and a brother, Kenneth was born in 1951. Our parents moved to Myrtle Point, Oregon in 1952 and lived there one year when the family received a phone call from our grandfather, Charles Albert Morgan I Buxton, Oregon saying he needed help to run the 720 Diner, a restaurant, on Hwy 26 West in Buxton. That is when we found out we had a grandfather and a grandmother named Prudie. We moved to Buxton, where Charles attended the Buxton Grade School in 1953. In 1954, Cheryl, another sister was born. Our mother worked as a waitress at the Diner and our father worked as Chef, Pie maker, and also logged six months a year. Charles attended Banks High School. On 30, 1967, he enlisted in the United Stated Navy at the age of 21, and was honorably discharged on 1, 1970. Charles went to work at the USPS on SW Broadway Street, the main branch, in Portland for 15 years. He lived a total of 35 years in Portland. getting out of a VA facility that helps alcoholics, he lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and Dick Brugger from 1996 to 1997. that he moved into the Hollywood East Apartments on NE Broadway Street in Portland. Charles was married three times between 1970 - 1995 and had no children. He lived in Portland and North Plains, Oregon. He got involved with the Meals On Wheels program. Charles was enrolled in a program that helped people overcome alcoholism from 1995 - 1996 in White City, Oregon. It was there that he was introduced to God and accepted Jesus into his heart. When a person gets saved, God says He will not leave them nor forsake them. We all have our share of troubles, but God is there to help us. On 1, 2010, he moved out to Forest Hills Mobile Estates after his sister Marianne convinced him that he could own a home and pay less when his apartment complex raised the rent. As his health got worse, he finally had to sell his home. He was a 100% disabled veteran since 2006. Charles ended up in the VA Hospital on 30, 2012 because he had a virus that got into his bloodstream and weakened his immune system, causing him to catch pneumonia and other lung ailments, diabetes, etc. He was discharged at the end of 2013. He lived with his roommate, Ms. Burt, an ex-wife who he looked after. He ended up back in the hospital on 16, 2014, after which he went to live in an adult foster home in Hillsboro on 17, 2014. Ms. Burt moved into Avamere of Hillsboro. The VA made Marianne POA over Charles, then they moved him into the home. Ken and I agreed with the doctors that he was not taking care of his health, and Charles admitted to Marianne that he had quit all his medicine because he thought he was okay. This was hard on Charles and hard on his sister, Marianne with more responsibility added since her husband died in 2013. Charles now lived in Hillsboro, Oregon at the adult foster home with dementia. Charles lived there from 17, 2014 - May 7, 2015 when he had a seizure (from falling out of bed too many times), and around 3:30pm he was rushed to the hospital. On May 12 he was transferred to Avamere Rehab of Beaverton, OR, the Kaiser Westside Hospital, then back to Avamere where he stayed until he passed away on 17, 2015 at 8:15pm. His brother Ken and sister Marianne visited him often. Charles enjoyed bowling, playing pool, was a Seattle Seahawks fan and learned computer skills. On television he enjoyed Wild National Geographic, National Geographic, Animal Planet, Science, Wrestling and People of other countries and movies. He loved music, favorites being Johnny Cash, Classical and 1950-1960 music. Charles wanted peace between the people he cared for, and was known to be a generous person. I, Marianne, know, as there were times he would buy me groceries if I did not have the money. Charles has graduated to a higher place. He is now with those who have gone before us that knew the Lord. Those who preceded him in death are: Robert S. Phillips (1970), David A. Phillips (1985), Michael Strubb (1989), Chester L. Morgan (1998), Arda Beth Morgan (2007), Richard A. Brugger (2013), Richard Lazott, Charles A. Morgan, Prudie Morgan, Lloyd Morgan, Irma Morganand others. Charles leaves behind three sisters, Marianne, Barbara and Cheryl; one brother, Kenneth (Lynn) Morgan; two nieces, Donna Benefiel and Adrienne R. Strubb; four nephews, Derick R. Morgan, Kody L. Strubb, Dax M. Strubb and Robert Burtch; one great niece, Alexandra Benefiel; one great nephew, Zachary Ryan Burtch and cousins and friends. |
