Obituary: Matthias Harald Mesdag 12, 1920 - 6, 2012 PHILOMATH -Matthias (Thies) Mesdag was born to Ferdinand Taco and Magda Ethelka Mesdag on 12/12/20 in Bandung, Indonesia. He attended High School in the Netherlands, and in 1939, was admitted to The Royal Dutch Military Academy. He fled German occupation in 1941, bound for home. He was a P.O.W. under the Japanese, and during this time, met Ann Jacqueline Hageman, whom he married in 1947. came to Seattle in 1951 and started their family. Matthias worked as associate engineer at Boeing, and with Ann, owned Von Nassau Kennels (German Shepherds), which came to be known the world over! He raised 10 children; Feiko, Taco, Gilles, Vern, Angela, Marion, Lesley, Jeannine, Michelle, Rustyn and took in others who needed help! He was a powerful example of charity and empathy. He was a strict, loving father who had high expectations of his children. In 1982, he & Ann retired to Monmouth, OR. He loved to read whatever he could get his hands on, and encouraged his children to do the same. Matthias was interested in family history & genealogy, and wrote his own life story for his family. In 2008, Ann passed away, and now he is with his wife again! A Celebration of Life will take place at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle, where he will rest beside Ann once more. Services are pending due to weather conditions. Obituary: Jorge George Luis Mesa passed away on 5th, 2016, in Gresham, Oregon. He was born on 9th, 1964, in Havana, Cuba, to his parents: Jose and Dalia (Caridad) Mesa. He attended Madison High School, from which he graduated in 1983. On 25th, 1994, George married his wife, Karen Reed, Together, they had two children. George was a member of the Teamster Union #206. He was an avid sports fan. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Boston Red Sox, and Portland Trailblazers. He will always be remembered as a loving man who was dedicated to his family and who was full of life. George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Madison and Alex; his brother, Edward, and his fiancé, Deana; his sister, Maria; his nieces and nephews, Taylor, Emma-Leigh, Lauren, Danielle, Matthew, Abigail, Ashley, and Alyssa; his great niece, Luna; and his brother and sister in laws, Kelly, Mickie, Kevin, and Fairouz; and his father and mother in law, Allen and Kay Reed. A Celebration of Georges Life will be held on , 15th, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Bateman Carroll in Gresham. He will be greatly missed. |

Obituary: Dalia E. Mesa peacefully passed away on 1, 2012 at the age of 72. She will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, her independent and free spirit, and her perseverance and dedication to her family. Dalia was born on 23, 1940 in Havana, Cuba. She spent her childhood in Cuba and when she was sixteen she met Jose C. Mesa and shortly thereafter they were married. Jose and Dalia started their family in Havana and in 1967 they moved the family to Miami before permanently settling into their home on 65th Ave in Portland, Oregon. When Jose and Dalia first arrived in Portland they both worked as manufacturers for Barker Furniture. Jose later on went to work as a welder and Dalia worked as a supervisor for 3M but Dalias primary and most treasured job was being a homemaker and mother for her three children. 39 years of marriage, Jose passed away. This was a tough time for Dalia as she missed the impromptu dancing sessions in the living room, and the day to day interactions with someone she knew so well. Dalia moved forward with her life and 16 years ago meet and fell in love with Alberto Rodriguez. shared a special companionship and Alberto provided much caretaking and tender love and support during Dalias final years. Dalia was a fearless God loving woman who always put her loved ones first. She was a steadfast supporter of her children and was constantly involved and tending to their needs when they were young. Even as adults, Dalia never left her mother role and always kept her kids close in her heart. Dalia was a good teacher and was patient but firm with her moral and ethical lessons. Dalias family will always remember her iconic look of wearing an apron and cooking in the kitchen. Dalia shared an intense bond with her only daughter and they shared each others lives through shopping trips, rose festival parades and nail appointments. Dalia led by example. Her strong moral fiber and intense work ethic have always led her life down a respectable path. Her memory will be treasured forever. She is survived by her companion; Alberto Rodriguez. Children; Edward (Deana) Mesa, George (Karen) Mesa, & Maria Mesa. Grandchildren; Lauren, Danielle, Matthew, Madison, Alex & Kyler. Great Grandchildren: Mariyah, Dylan & Elizabeth.
