Obituary: Lola Mae Fischer, Manning, Marcy was born in Liberty, IL on 25, 1931. She passed away on 9, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Charles Fischer, brothers Orville and Delbert Fischer and sister Frances Fischer-Swanson. She is survived by her husband Al Marcy, her son Charles Manning and wife Svetlana, Daughter Melody Hile and husband J.R., and grandson Jonathan Manning and wife Victoria. With a true love for music, Lola began her singing career in church at the age of five. She sang at church picnics and in the High School glee club. Due to her mothers and sisters health the family moved to New Mexico in 1948, where she finished high school. At this time, she met Everett Manning who was in the music department at the First Baptist church in Belen, New Mexico. She and Everett were married in 1949 in Liberty IL. While in New Mexico, Lola worked as a deputy county clerk while taking music classes at the college. moved to Ft Worth and they both enrolled in the music program at the Southwestern Seminary. graduating with degrees in voice and organ, Lola went to work for Convair and helped build B-58s. Along with Everett, Lola served in Pioneer Missions for the Southern Baptist Church in various locations. also served in churches in Hannibal Mo, Colorado Springs, and Bakersfield, CA, where he passed away in 1969. With two small children to raise on her own, Lola relocated the family to be near her sister Frances. She and Frances were very close and Frances and her husband Wes invited Lola and her children to live with them while with Gods help found the path she would follow for the rest of her life. One of Lolas proudest moments was the purchase of their home on Southern Place. By giving piano lessons, her strength and determination helped her to insure that Charles and Melody would have a home of their own. In 1975 Pastor Richard Hogue started Metro Church and called Lola to be on his staff. Here she pastored the following ministries: visitation, mercy, missions, membership, baptism and congregational care. She led the first bible school with 1000 in attendance. She served at Metro Church under the following pastors: Richard Hogue, Clark Whitten (who licensed her), and Jim Hylton (who ordained her). Her greatest joy was the Mercy Ministry, where she was able to help so many in times of need. She was someone who always tried to help, not to judge, but to minister to anyone who would listen. Her faith had no bounds. Lola and Al had a wonderful life together. Beginning with an introduction at Metro Church and being married in 1986. The twenty nine years they spent together were a wonderful example of two people being given a second chance at happiness. The life they made together, with the blending of their families into one, was an example what a marriage should be. Their work together and their active volunteering at Crossings Church should show everyone that no matter your age or physical condition, everyone can serve. |
