Obituary: Dorothy Mae (Gorham) Morton, 92, of Mentor, died 26, 2015 at the David Simpson Hospice in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born Oct. 31, 1922, the fourth of six sisters, to the late Aaron and Laura (Randall) Gorham. She graduated from Springfield High School in , 1941. Dorothy moved back to Cleveland for a job at the Federal Reserve Bank where she met, and then married, Edward Morton. With Ed in the Army then, her son Dennis was born at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. Back in Cleveland after the war, daughters Dianna and Amy were born. The family moved to Euclid in 1959 where she has been a member of East Shore Methodist church for many years. For more than 20 years she worked as the Executive Secretary to the Directors of Euclid General Hospital, retiring in 1984. Her husband was an artist, and while she was not, she served as the president of the Euclid Art Association for 20 years until she moved to Mentor with her daughter Amy in 2004. There she enjoyed family, the Senior , and monthly luncheons with friends. Almost fiercely independent, and with failing eyesight, she continued to enjoy long conversations with life-long friends and family with whom she maintained close relationships. She is survived by her son Dennis (Mary) Morton, daughter Amy Morton, sister-in-law Rosamond Morton, son-in-law John Taylor, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. And many nieces and nephews will remember her. She is pre-deceased by her husband Edward; her daughter, Dianna Taylor and sisters Ruth Bair, Ruby Stickland, Julia Repass, Helen Taylor and Alice Welch. service will be 10 am at East Shore United Methodist Church, 23002 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, OH 44123. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm at Brunner Sanden Deitrick & Cremation , 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Interment will be in Mentor . In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, Euclid Art Association, 21129 North Ave., Euclid, OH 44119 or East Shore Methodist Church, 23002 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, OH 44119.
