Obituary: William (Bill) Conrad Mears, 78, passed away 03, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born in Akron, Ohio in 1933, to his late parents Billy and Hilda Mears. He attended Buchtel High school and was a 1st team All City Offensive End. He attended Ohio University and graduated from Akron University. He went on to receive his masters in business from Harvard. Bill was an Military Veteran and was stationed in Germany. He built a successful Accounting, Tax and Physician Practice Management business in Akron, Ohio helping physicians set up and manage their practices. Bill had a love for life; he enjoyed family vacations and was always on the go meeting new people and networking. He only knew one way to live life; with a positive spirit and a passion to learn. He stayed positive even through the tough times. As he battled Alzheimers disease he remained happy, laughing and smiling. He adored his children, always wanting to help them and make a difference in their lives. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Lyn Mears. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Mears and their son Craig William Mears, his former wife Judy (Sense) and their children, Kurt William Mears and Kristin Ann(Maynard); 4 grandchildren Tyler, Tyson, Jaxon and Taylor; daughter in law Kelly Marie Mears; son in law Matthew Maynard and future daughter in law Jackie Milligan and many loving relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a loving thank you to the nurses and health aides that helped care for Bill at Bath Manor. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. , 6th at the Catavolos 3653 W. Market St. (Fairlawn), where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Jennifer Lyn Mears Memorial Book Fund c/o Bath School Library. Checks made payable to Revere Local Schools, P.O. She was born the daughter of Clinton & Ellen (Pound) Tucker on 11, 1924 in Oneida, New York. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Mears; brother George Tucker; and sister in law Charlotte Tucker. Marilyn is survived by one brother David L. Obituary: John Mears, 68, died peacefully morning, 17th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born 19, 1945, to the late Irene E. and O. Glenn Mears, Sr., John was a 1963 graduate of Glenwood High School and went on to Ohio University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Business Administration. marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Laughery, John worked at Ohio Bell for three years. He then joined his father and brother, Glenn,Jr, in the family business, Park Honda and Marine on Rt. 62. Over the years the business grew to become Park Auto Group on Arlington Road in Akron. John viewed all of life as an adventure, always seeing hard work as its own reward. This same commitment to his work informed his everyday life as well. He was an extraordinary athlete, completing both the Iron Man Race in Kona, Hawaii, in 1997, and a World Champion Olympic Distance Triathlon race in Switzerland. He also spent a winter in Alaska, training for the Iditarod Race. Over the years he participated in countless races and triathlons. In 2000, John was part of a six-person relay team that successfully swam the English Channel from England to France. As an enthusiastic aviator, he loved flying his private plane. On the ground John was also an artist who took painting classes from Bette Elliot for many years. Throughout his life, both in business and in retirement, John sought to help where there was a need, always shunning recognition. Most of all, John loved and revered his family and friends. He leaves behind his sister Myrna (and Tony) Pastore, his brother, Glenn,Jr.( andPeggy) Mears, sons Jake and Curtis (Kristine), grandchildren, Riley and Annie, his former wife, Mary, and his special companion, Rebecca Calkins, who loved and cared for him throughout his illness. The family will welcome all to a remembrance and a celebration of Johns life on , 25th at 4:00 pm. at The Eagles Club, 6979 Sunset Strip N.W. in North Canton. Memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to Merging Hearts, 3751 Burrshire Drive N.W., Canton 44709, or to a charity of your choice.
