Obituary: Mary Elizabeth McElroy Meg, 55, of Brady Lake, passed away , 22, 2015 at 10:08 PM at Akron City Hospital Medical . She was born 8, 1960 in Medina to John F. and Helen (Morse) Gehring. Mary was a Teachers Assistant for sixteen years at East Woods Elementary in Hudson where she helped in the teaching of special needs children. As a teaching assistant she was able to touch the lives of many students and staff members. She loved and cherished their friendships and time spent together. Mary was an avid photographer, gardener, and lover of books. Her spare time was often spent kayaking on Brady Lake and playing Words with Friends. Her love of nature and the outdoors often took her camping, hiking, and RVing across Ohio and the United States where she visited many state and national parks with her family. As a mother she spent much of her time as a soccer, karate, and scout mom. As a den mother she helped her son along the trail to Eagle, and was very proud to pin that badge on his uniform at his Eagle Court of Honor. She was a devoted, loving partner and best friend to her husband of twenty four years. She will be sadly missed by him and others. She is survived by her husband, Kevin B. McElroy, whom she married on 11, 1991; sons, Cody R. (Natasha) Latham and their children, Joshua and Anna Lynn; Andrew McElroy; her mother, Helen Riehm; her brother, Robert (Susan) Gehring, Jeff (Pattie) Gehring, and Tom (Donna) Gehring; her aunt, Betty, and her faithful dog, Duchess. Mary never held ill will toward anyone and was able to bring the best out in others with her kind and gentle spirit. She had quick wit and the ability to crack a joke to bring a smile or laugh with her friends and co-workers. A Celebration of Life will be held Noon until Midnight, , 2nd at Silver Springs Lodge in Stow. The family would appreciate all donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) in Marys name. |

Obituary: Lydia E. McElroy age 82 of Lima, died 2:55 a.m., , 29, 2015 at Lima Memorial. She was born Aug. 6, 1932 in Auglaize to the late John Barnes and Beatrice (Holten) Fitzpatrick and adopted by the late Glen and Reo Copus. She was previously married to Ronald Freed, Sr. and Thomas W. McElroy who preceded her in death. She enjoyed roses, flowers, making fudge and candy, camping at the River, playing bingo and loved her little dog A.J. She also enjoyed collecting recipes and recipe boxes. She had been a machinist and worked in shipping at Randall Bearing INC. Survivors include 4 children; Ronald (Cynthia) Freed, Jr., Steven (Teresa) Freed, Cheryl (Joe) Nagy and Benett (Jackie Sibold) Freed all of Lima 2 stepsons; Randy (Joyce) McElroy and Mark (Pauline) McElroy both of Delphos, 15 grandchildren; Jerod Freed, Jennifer (Ashley Mueller) McNamara, Denise (Nathan) Richard, Alexis McNamara, Alisha (Michael) Banks, Nicole Freed, Missy (Brett) Ehrman, Aaron Freed, Elizabeth Melching, Sandy (Bridget Ball) Nagy, Kimberly (Justin) Blatz, Eric (Amber) Adkins, Sam (Rebecca Rambo) Wheeler, Lydia (Alex) Seigrist and Benjamin (Chelcie) Freed; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, a brother; Leonard (Roberta) Copus of Byrdstown, TN and a foster sister; Carol Lewis of Lima. She was preceded in death by a son, Denver Denny Freed in 1955, a granddaughter, Mary Beth McNamara and a brother, Dale Copus. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. 31 and noon to 1 p.m. at Bayliff & Son , Cridersville. The funeral service will begin 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dottie Kaiser officiating. Donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Veterans Food Pantry or Relay for Life of Lima. |
