Obituary: Robert S. Majjasie, 85, of Lorain passed away , 7, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice of St. Joseph following a short illness. He was born 2, 1930 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident. Robert graduated from Lorain High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. the service he was employed by the Freuhauf Co. and by the Eastern Greyhound Lines. Robert retired from Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake after 31 & 1/2 years. He was an active member of the UAW Local 2000 Retirees proudly serving as its president from 1996 to 2011. He also served as a board member for UAW Local 2000, was a member of UAW-CAP Council, board member of UAW Region B, Trustee of V.F.W. Post 8686, member AARP, and former board member on the Lorain Dept. of Aging. He loved his family and visiting with them, his home, reading, puzzles, the family pets, and traveling with his wife. particularly enjoyed traveling to the National Parks, but their highlight was a trip to New Zealand, and Australia for an anniversary. As an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, Robert served as a Eucharistic Minister, an Usher, and on various committees. He was a Holy Name Society member where he served many terms as president. He was named Holy Name Man of the Year in 1996. On 15, 1957 he married Mary Ann (nee Dancak) and she survives along with children Sharon Majjasie Denbow of Lorain, and Gregory Majjasie of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren Samantha Denbow Santana, Julie Denbow Martinez, Jessica Denbow, Derek and Jeremy Majjasie; great-grandchildren Nathanial Denbow, and Ciara Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Madeleine (nee y), sister Betty Majjasie, and brothers William and Gerald Majjasie. The family will receive friends , 11th from 4-8 p.m. at Dombrowski-Riddle & Cremation Service 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. Interment will follow at Calvary , Lorain where Lorain Honor Guard V.F.W. Post 451, and American Legion Post 30 will conduct military graveside honors. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anthony of Padua Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society. |

Obituary: Joanne Carole Majjasie (nee Kapron), 75, of Lorain, died , 20, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy illness. Carole was born 2, 1940 in Lorain where she has been a life long resident. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. Carole enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, baking, doing crossword puzzles, and ceramics. Carole is survived by her children, Lynne Popik of Lorain, Kristine (Scott) Campana of Lorain, Jerry (Nicole) of Amherst, and Cherie (Mike) Matos of Amherst; grandchildren, Jackie, David, TJ, Chris, Brittany, Vinnie, Talia, Jerry, Liza, Gia, Sophie, Carl, and Sean; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Mason; sons in law; Dave Popik and Terry Wohlever; sister, Judy (Larry) Krupp; niece, Sheila Krupp; and nephews, Mike and Larry Krupp. She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Gerald T. Majjasie in 2009, daughter, Carleen Wohlever in 2014 and parents, Carl and Helen (Malanowski) Kapron. Friends may call on , Jan. 24, 2016 from 2-6 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle , 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Reverend Robert J. Glepko will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary , Lorain. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice. |
