Obituary: Kay Elayne Jensen Moon was born in Bismarck, ND, 22, 1946, the daughter of Raymond and Irene (Beckman) Jensen. She passed away 12, 2015 at Elim in Fargo, ND, 6 years after her glioblastoma multiforme diagnosis. Kay grew up on a farm near Hannover, ND, attended Oliver one-room country schools for eight years, the only student in her grade. She then attended High School in , ND, graduating in 1964. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in and served as church organist for several years while in high school. Kay attended Concordia in Moorhead, MN, for one year before transferring to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She received a BS degree in speech pathology in 1968 and an MS degree in 1969. Kay and her high school sweetheart, Darrell Moon, were married at , ND on Sept. 4, 1966. In , 1969, they moved to Waynesville, Missouri where Darrell was stationed with the US Army. Kay was employed by the Waynesville Public School system as a speech therapist and in , 1970, they returned to Grand Forks where Darrell pursued a Masters Degree. In , 1971 they moved to McVille, ND where Darrell began employment at McVille State Bank. In 1981 Kay returned to UND and became certified in elementary and early childhood education. She taught in the McVille Public School system for five years. She later worked at the McVille Medical Clinic in the accounting department for several years. Other than these times of employment, she was a proud stay-at-home mom and housewife. Darrell and Kay along with 3 others became owners of McVille State Bank in 1992 before selling it in 2007. She was involved in organizing bank special events and also wrote a quarterly newsletter for the bank for eight years. Kay served as organist at McVille Lutheran Church for 30+ years and had a special love of hymns. She was active in choir and handchime choir, LCW, as well as other church activities and especially enjoyed organizing programs and special events. Kay had many hobbies including sewing and quilting, card-making, preserving family memories through scrapbooking, taking photos, and writing. She loved the North Dakota prairie and her family heritage. She continued actively pursuing these hobbies even after being diagnosed with a brain tumor on 1, 2009. Family and home were precious to Kay and Darrell and Kay enjoyed many family outings through the years. her diagnosis, they particularly enjoyed trips with the entire family to Disneyworld, Colorado, Alaska and Italy. Surviving members of her family include her husband, Darrell, of Fargo; daughters, Rev. Tessa Moon Leiseth and husband, Jon, of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa; Sara Waltz and husband, Terry, of Fargo and grandchildren, Isaac and Sophia Leiseth of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and Brianna, Trey and Jensen Waltz all of Fargo. Other family members include aunts and uncles David Jensen of Hazen, ND; Betty Jensen of Moorhead, MN; Hilda Jensen of Hazen, ND; Beatrice (Walter) Reinke of , ND; Loretta Beckman, Norma Beckman, Burton Beckman all of Hannover, ND plus many cousins. Other family members include sisters and brothers-in-law Rita Decker, Bakersfield, CA; Mary Gilbert, Gladstone, ND; Ed Moon, Freeport, IL; Robert (Vicki) Moon, Rice, MN. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Raymond Jensen, her father and mother-in-law, Ted and Lorraine Moon; aunts and uncles Forrest, Ruby, Orrie (Clara), Neal (Mary), John and Warren Jensen; Grace (Lyle) Benz; Berniece (Edwin) Berg, Lillian Rollenhagen, Wilbert, Ernie (Erma), Preston and Arlene Beckman. Obituary: Ed Moody died on , 5, 2014 in the company of family in the Sanford Palliative Unit in Fargo at the age of 79. Edward Clarence Moody/Urich was born on 9, 1935 in Buffalo, MN to Edward F. Urich and Esther E. Moody. Edward served in the Army and earned many decorations including Seven Steps to Hell, Marksman (Rifle) and Good Conduct. an honorable discharge, he moved onto becoming an entrepreneur making a living with his passions in antiques, electronics repair and furniture sales and restoration. Edward was a loving and devoted father to his children. He is survived by his three boys, Christopher (Krystal) Urich, Jed Hall, Jeff Hall; six grandchildren and also his lifetime companion, Julie Urich. Obituary: Irene Monzelowsky, 85, Mandan, passed away 30, 2017 at her residence in Mandan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on , 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans . Visitation will be held , 5, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel , with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on . Irene was born on 30, 1932, in a farm house-St. Anthony, ND to Mike and Eva (Bullinger) Wetsch. She attended school in one room country schools and at St. Anthony Catholic boarding school. She obtained her GED certificate after attending night classes at Mandan Sr. High, she also studied American Sign Language. Irene left the farm in 1950 to Mandan for employment. Her first job was a waitress at Nick’s Steak House then on to Taylor Drug, lunch counter at Red Owl and Hawley Cleaners. In later years, she did office work at Kist’s Livestock for 3 ½ years. Did various office work for Dakota Caulking, Inc. (family business) for over 20 years. Irene married Francis Monzelowsky after his discharge from the US Army after the Korean Conflict on 13, 1953 at St. Anthony. She was a stay at home mom and had many interest and hobbies such as sewing, crocheting, crewel embroidery, reading, puttering with garden, potted plants and yard work and feeding peanuts to the Blue Jays. Her most favorite hobby was being a Grandma to 13 fantastic grandchildren. Irene volunteered at meals on Wheels, church choir and various help for St. Joseph’s parish also Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts when the family was involved and volunteered at Medora, ND. Irene loved to travel and made numerous trips to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Alaska and Hawaii and Disney World in 1972 with the whole family by car. Irene will be deeply missed by her children, Bev and Pat Monroe, Baldwin, ND, Mary Kaye Monzelowsky, Bismarck, ND, Randy and Jacki (Heck) Monzelowsky, Mandan, ND and Dale and Julie (Weinberger) Monzelowsky, Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Dan Lonski, Courtney and Alexis Monroe, Scott, Stacey and Allison Hoff, Gavin, Garrett and Morgan Monzelowsky, Cory, Eric, Lauren and Colin Monzelowsky; great-grandchildren, Krew, Karlie, Kasper, Kyan, Tahlia, Danica, Liam, Zack, Zarrett, Zaden, Madison, Hudson, Jackson, Austin, Ashelyn and Dawsyn; sister, Bernice Kuntz, Mandan, ND; brothers, Leo Wetsch, Mandan, ND and Arno Wetsch, Billings, MT along with numerous nieces and nephews.
