Obituary: Claudia Jo Morgan, 55 of New Bern died , 4, 2015 at her home in New Bern. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Havelock for 31 years. She was employed by the Fleet Readiness at Cherry Point for 29 years. Claudia enjoyed her family and friends and being of service to others. It was often said her smile would light up a room. God surely pick a special rose out of his rose garden when he called Claudia home. During her life she touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Claudia will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Kemmy Lee Morgan and their son Timothy Tedd Morgan. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Collins. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Collins. Dorothy and Joseph were special parents who shared their life with Claudia when they adopted her at 17 hours old. Obituary: Charles DeVan Morgan, 87, of Clayton, passed away on 16, 2017 in Smithfield. Charles was born in Clayton, NC to Dewey and Bessie Conner Morgan on May 16, 1930. He graduated from Clayton High School. He married Peggy Turner on 12, 1978 in Clayton. He worked in textiles and in office/warehouse management. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was involved as a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts and was a life time member of First Baptist Church of Clayton. Charles is survived by his wife, Peggy Turner Morgan; sons Charles (Chuck) Morgan and wife, Debbie; Jack Morgan and wife, Cindy; daughter Melanie Dupree Policke and husband, Timothy; sisters Ruth Morgan Lynch, Duba Morgan Coats and husband, George (Bucky) Coats; grandchildren Tyler Morgan and wife Becky, Nathan Morgan, Stephen Policke, Briana Morgan, Rachel Policke, Kaylee Morgan; and 2 great-granddaughters with another on the way. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to First Baptist Church of Clayton. The family of Charles Morgan wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the First Baptist church family and to SECU Hospice House. Obituary: Charles Wilson Morgan, 82, passed away , 19, 2014, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice in Winston Salem. A native of Haywood , he was the son of the late Jay Wilson and Eula Brown Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Evelyn Louise Morgan; his brother, Jon Ray Morgan; and his step-daughter, Gerri Ann Johnson. Charlie enjoyed a long and gratifying career with Western Electric and AT&T holding positions in accounting, industrial and personnel relations, labor relations and financial operations in Winston Salem, Kansas City, Phoenix, New York City, and in the Middle East. He began his career in 1958 as a staff trainee with Western Electric in Winston Salem and retired in 1988 as vice president of finance for AT&T International in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Charlie was a graduate of Wake Forest University and he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as an aviation electronics specialist based mostly in Turkey. In retirement, Charlie settled in Bermuda Run with his wife, Shirl. He continued to work in a variety of capacities, including real estate, but spent most of his time collecting coins, working in the yard, cooking breakfast for loved ones and playing golf. He made a few more trips abroad, and visited WNC regularly to see friends and family. Charlie will be remembered as a good and gracious man who worked hard, played hard, saw the world and never forgot where he was from, and as a person who appreciated the ties that bind us to one another. He is survived by his wife, Shirl Johnson Morgan, of the home; a son, Hunter Dane Morgan, of the home; his children with Joyce Matthews Morgan, Mitzi Lynn Morgan (Chris Caragher), of Decatur, Georgia, and James Wilson Morgan, of Asheville; two sisters, Lois Morgan Hardin, of Waynesville, and Betty Morgan Conway, of Asheville; and a sister-in-law, Louise Gudger Morgan, of Clyde. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. 26, at Locust Field in Canton with the Rev. David Phillips of Clyde First Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice , 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103 or to the American Lung Association, 3409-D W.
