Obituary: Ruby Dunston Mingia, 89, of Spring Hope, NC peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on 22, 2017. relocating to Greensboro, NC in 2012, she enjoyed living at the Carillon Retirement until she moved to the home of her daughter, which she called home for the last 2 years. Mrs. Ruby Mingia was born 17, 1927 to the late Terathy Mills and Mary Ethel Dunston Conaley. She attended public schools in New Jersey and Spaulding High School in Spring Hope, NC. Ruby M. Dunston married the late A.W. Mingia, Sr. and to this union seven children were born. Ethel Eileen Mingia and Carol Mingia Porch proceeded her in death. During her early childhood, Ruby attended Pleasant Hill Holiness Church in Nash . Early 1993 she rededicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Faith Hope Holy Church located in Spring Hope, NC. She was truly committed to the ministry and to her loving Pastors; Gary and Christine Davis. She was a dedicated and active member, never absent or tardy for Bible Study, School or Morning Worship. Serving as Church Mother, she quickly developed an intimate relationship as Mother Mingia with the congregation and visiting churches. Everyone looked forward to her Sweet Potato, and Pineapple Pig Picking cakes. She was often at the church with her husband cleaning and assisting with maintaining the appearance of the church building and grounds. Her relationship with her church family continued until her death and Pastors Gary and Christine Davis always made the trip from Spring Hope and later from Fayetteville every couple of months to visit and pray for her and Deacon Mingia over the last six years. Ruby was always willing to help others and cared for her mother and father until their death. She was a gifted seamstress and used her talent making clothes for her five girls and others as requested. She enrolled in an upholstery class at the community college and re-upholstered her living room set and a few pieces of furniture for friends. She worked many years in the local sewing factories and enjoyed the hemming machine, where she constantly made production. The kitchen was her favorite room and she ruled it with authority. You could find her most of the time sitting on her stool looking out of the kitchen window. She was young when she became a grandma but enjoyed all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her second set of grandchildren, A.W. Jr and Timmys children, ruled the house and bought much love to her as she aged. To cherish her memory, Ruby leaves three daughters, Linda Carter, Doha Qatar; Sylvia Bowden, Greensboro, NC; Debbie Mingia, Nashville, NC; Two sons; A.W. Mingia, Jr, Kuwait and Timothy Mingia (Carolyn), Spring Hope, NC ; grandson Julian who lived with her most of his life and remained in the home with her until she was relocated to Greensboro; one sister-in-law, Evangelist Marie Mingia Ray; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 1 great great grandson (on the way), one son-in-law, Wesley R Porch (Carol), Orlando, FL, numerous cousins, a host of relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice and Palliative of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405. |
