She was born in Haywood on Fines Creek on 12, 1938 to the late Stonewall Jackson and Fannie Burr Caldwell Rathbone. Christine had a love for her family. She loved spending time in her garden, farming and the outdoors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Rathbone and deceased wife Betty Catherine Rathbone. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 53 years, Paul Mehaffey; children, Lisa Nelson and her husband, Tracy and Jack Mehaffey and his wife, Alana; sister, Ilene Ingle and her husband, Leon; brother, Hugh Rathbone and his wife, Margie; grandchildren, Rev. He received his Bachelors of Science from St. Johns University in Long Island, NY and his Masters of Business Administration from St. Johns University in Staten Island, NY. He was a New York City banker. Mr. Megna served in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he was honorably discharged in 1972. He was an excellent saxophone player and played in several bands. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Survivors include his wife, Raven Megna; son, Michael Megna of Mint Hill; daughter, Pamela Steinauer and husband, William Steinauer, and twin granddaughters, Holly and Taylor Steinauer, all of Salisbury; sister, Angela Perez and husband, Dr. Carlos Perez, and brother, Dr. Daniel Megna and wife, Joanne Megna, all of Staten Island, NY; brother, Dr. Thomas Megna and wife, Denise Megna, of Holmdel, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews. Obituary: Betty Meggs, 85, of Charlotte, NC died , 2, 2015. She was born on 1, 1930 in Union , NC to the late Jiles and Bessie Griffin. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed a successful career with Kroehler Manufacturing before retiring with over 30 years of service. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with her husband Carl before his passing in 2007. Mamaw especially enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Yvonne Baucom of Charlotte, NC, Doug Meggs and wife, Lisa, of Mint Hill, NC and Curtis Meggs and wife, Debi, of Indian Trail, NC, grandchildren; Brent Meggs(Candace), Brittany Rauch(Julian) and Daniel Meggs and greatgrandson; Wills Davis Rauch. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Carl Meggs. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McEwen in Mint Hill, NC, on , 5th with Services to follow in the McEwen Chapel at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Gardens in Charlotte. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Unlimited Possibilities in Mint Hill, and Hospice & Palliative and her nurse, Ms. Camille Timberlake, for the loving care and support that they provided. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to Hospice and Palliative - Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to the Alzheimers Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. |
