Obituary: Rose Preslar McWhirter, 97 of Mint Hill passed away peacefully 23, 2015. She was born in Polkton, NC on 14, 1918, the oldest of eight children, to Thomas F. Preslar and Bessie P. Preslar. Rose graduated from Anson High School and attended South Eastern Beauty School. She worked as a hair stylist and owened and operated Roses Beauty Shop in Mint Hill for over 40 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Philadelphia Presbyterian church serving as a youth School teacher and she was active in Presbtyerian Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James W. McWhirter, Jr, to whom she was married for over 70 years, son Thomas F. McWhirter, brothers Walter Preslar, Earnest Preslar, sisters Pearl Rushing, Vera Tweed. She is sruvvibe by her son James W. McWhirter, III and wife Judy, Grand Daughters Allison M Danielsen and husband Richard, Suzanne M. Jones and husband Church, Great Grandchildren Zachary and Clint Danielsen and Hunter and Austin Jones, sister Betty Yandle of Monroe, Brothers Ray Preslar of Thomasville, NC, Grover Preslar of Polkton, NC and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on , the 28th of , 2015 at two oclock in the afternoon at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill. Obituary: Eddie McWhirter (Ray Edward, Jr.) passed away , 22, 2010 at 6:50 p.m. in a peaceful sleep. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 25, 2010 at Dulins Grove Advent Christian Church with Reverend Matt Broadway officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Eddie worked for several years in various sheltered workshops. He loved his work and interaction with his co-workers. He enjoyed music and never missed an opportunity to perform. Eddie was active in school and other programs at Dulins Grove Advent Christian Church. He was the light of our lives and was loved by all that knew him. He taught us so much about love, compassion, and patience. Eddie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Obituary: Johnnie Yandle McWhirter, Mrs. McWhirter, 84, of Mint Hill, died , May 26, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 PM , May 28, at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles C. Williamson and the Rev. Lee Koontz officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Born 25, 1926, in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. McWhirter was the daughter of the late Fairley and Viola Finlayson Yandle. She worked for Charlotte Liberty Mutual Insurance with over 20 years of service, and later retired from Charlotte Memorial Hospital. For over 60 years Mrs. McWhirter has been a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed being a member of the choir, a very active member of the Fred Brown School Class, Presbyterian Women and youth group advisor. She was at her happiest when she was with her family. She is survived by his loving husband of 65 years, William A. McWhirter, Sr., who was her primary caregiver for the last 29 years; four children, William A. McWhirter, Jr., and wife, Vickie, Gail M. Ferguson and husband, Johnny, Dwayne McWhirter and wife, Yvonne, and Lawson McWhirter and wife, Sherri, all of Mint Hill; a brother, Richard Yandle and wife, Cheryl, of Canton, GA; eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews. Obituary: Charlotte, NC-Jimmy Parks McWhirter, 84, passed away early afternoon, 9, 2014 at Carolinas Medical -Main. Born in Charlotte on 9, 1930, he was the only child of Clyde Thomas and Cleo Williams McWhirter. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. A retired sales representative for General Electric, Jimmy graduated from Tech High School. He was a veteran serving with the US Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict and held membership in the VFW. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and was an avid sports fan. Known as Pawpaw to many local children, he along with his wife, Charlene owned and operated Derita Day for more than 35 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel "Danny" Parks McWhirter. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Charlene Henderson McWhirter; four children, Christine Blumberg of Charlotte, Dale McWhirter and his wife, Jane of Charlotte, Becky Ketner of Lincolnton and David McWhirter and his wife, Kelly of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. services are planned for 11 am , 13, 2014 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 6440 Old Statesville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28269. He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1978. Mr. McWhirter worked in the construction industry. A man of strong faith, he was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, attending church services, being outdoors, fishing and playing horseshoes. The service to celebrate the life of Daniel Danny Parks McWhirter will be held 11:00 AM , 26, 2010 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with his pastor, Reverend Bob Symanski, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen . The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McEwen Service - Derita Chapel. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed by all.
