Obituary: ROBERT JOHNSTONE "JOHNNY" McLEAN, JR. died 25 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC at the age of 62 due to complications from surgery. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother Miriam Hinshaw McLean and father Robert Johnstone McLean. He graduated from Page High School in 1972 and received his BS from UNC in 1976. a brief stint with Younts-DeBoe clothiers Johnny joined the sales staff at Dillard Paper representing the Roanoke, Virginia area where he exceeded sales quotas and performance objectives for 21 consecutive years. He then opened McLean's Fine Antiques in Roanoke until moving back to Greensboro in 2010. Most recently Johnny had been substitute teaching for the Guilford School System. Johnny was the former captain of the UNC rugby club and was the place kicker for the 1975 tarheels football team under coach Bill Dooley. He was elected life VP of High Wycombe Rugby Union (England) and life VP of the Melrose Rugby Club (Scotland). He was the first American elected in the 90 year history of these organizations. Johnny captained 4 tours with the US Select Players to Great Britain and was the director of the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Union. He was also the director, advisory council of the USA Rugby Football Union. Johnny was proud to have been an SAE during his years at Chapel Hill. His memory was photographic when it came to faces, names and life events and was a brilliant conversationalist who never met a stranger. Johnny was a clothes horse beyond compare. Kilts, suits, cabana clothes-always the best as noted by his 16 pairs of golf shoes, each a different color. A brief description of Johnny's life would be a take of the Sinatra song "I did it my way". Surviving is his sister Ann McLean Jones (Doug), nephew John Shields and great niece Belle Shields. The family will visit with friends 6-8 PM at the Hanes-Lineberry North Elm St . The funeral is at 1:00 , 4th at First Presbyterian Church, North Elm Street, Greensboro. Following the service will be a celebration of his life at his home, 3000 Greenbrook Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Children's Society, 604 Meadow St., 27405 or Beacon Place 2500 Summit Ave, 27405. Obituary: Randolph Lawrence McLean, 68, passed away 14, 2015, at home while working on his much-loved model railroad. Randy was a beloved brother and uncle who brightened the lives of so many people. Randy was born 28, 1947, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Flynn Brevard and Margaret Brown McLean. The second of five children in a military family, Randy spent parts of his childhood in Okinawa and Germany. Randy attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his degree in Political Science in 1969. pursuing a year of graduate studies at the University of Iowa, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1970. Upon completing his studies at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, he spent almost two years on the Isle of Crete as an Arabic language specialist. When his four-year tour of duty ended, Randy began a 30-year career working for the University of North Carolina Hospital System as a computer analyst. Retiring in 2004, Randy moved to Fort Mill, South Carolina, to be closer to his beloved family. He is survived, remembered and loved by his brothers, Barry (Janice), Kenneth, Byron (Betsy) McLean, and his sister Marilyn McLean, as well as his uncle and aunt, Jim and Nancy Brown. Randy was a wonderful uncle to his two nieces and two nephews, who will always remember how he made them feel special and loved. He is also missed by his two great-nieces, with whom he had a special bond, as well as a host of cousins. One of the great loves of Randys life was trains and model railroading. When he moved to Fort Mill, he found a home near the train tracks to enjoy the sight and sound of the trains going by. He had a special outbuilding, affectionately called The Depot, where he pursued his hobby of model railroading. Randy was passionate about his work on his design and layout, even attending classes in digital electronics so he could perfect his train control systems. He was an avid walker and enjoyed the Anne Springs Close Greenway, where he volunteered for many years with the Exceptional Equestrians therapeutic riding program. Randy took a special interest in the participants, especially his rider Willie. His compassion and generosity for others will always be remembered and cherished by his friends and family. Family and friends will gather to remember Randy on , 19th, at 2p.m. at the McEwen-Pineville Chapel in Charlotte. Obituary: Mr. Philip Scooter Man Eugene McLean, 45, of Hickory passed away unexpectedly on , 19, 2015. Philip was born 29, 1970 in Catawba to Patrick Doc McLean and the late Sue Spencer McLean. He was the proud owner of Import Power Store. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by two sisters; Cindy Canipe and Kathy Greer. Survivors include his father Patrick McLean; his newlywed wife Desiree McLean and their unborn child; one son, Philip E. McLean Jr; one daughter Michala McLean; two sisters Mitzi Beaver and Patricia Tyger; one brother Tim McLean; and numerous nephews and nieces.
